If the iPhone caused a revolution among smartphones, then the first Apple Watch can also be considered revolutionary. They couldn't do much, they were relatively expensive and limited, however, over the years of their existence, they earned the status of the best-selling watches in the world. And quite rightly so.
Simply put, if you own an iPhone, you can't get a better solution than the Apple Watch. But why? Why not a Samsung Galaxy Watch or a watch from Xiaomi, Huawei, other Chinese manufacturers or Garmin? There are several reasons, and a lot depends on what you want from a smartwatch. The Apple Watch is a universal that crosses all spheres of wearability.
Iconic look
Although the Apple Watch still has the same design, which changes only minimally, these days it is one of the iconic ones. Just as all classic watch manufacturers copy the Rolex Submariner, so do the Apple Watch electronics manufacturers. They all want to look similar, because with respect to wearable technology, the rectangular shape of the case makes sense given the consumption of the text they can display. Although the question of design is very subjective, if you ask an iPhone owner whether he likes the Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or some Garmin model more, you will overwhelmingly hear that answer A is correct.
But even if you had a 1:1 visual copy of the Apple Watch on your hand, there is another factor that makes the Apple Watch so popular. It's the watchOS operating system. Not so much in terms of functions, because other smartwatches, such as those from Samsung, offer similar functions. Rather, manufacturers are competing to bring new options for measuring the user's health, but these usually may not appeal to everyone, because many of us do not even know how to deal with EKG measurements.
But Google's Wear OS, which is most prevalent in the Galaxy Watch4, is also very capable, even when displayed on a circular display. Willy-nilly, there are clear limitations here. Not to mention the system in the Garmin watch. If Samsung tries to enlarge and reduce the text in its solution with regard to whether it is near the center or along the upper and lower edges of the display, it is no exception for Garmin that you have to imagine the text because it no longer fits on the circular display. Even so, Garmins are truly high-quality wearables. But the main thing is the ecosystem.
When the ecosystem really matters
Galaxy Watch with Wear OS only communicates with Androids. Other watches, such as those that run on Tizen, but you can easily pair with iPhones. Just like Garmins. But they all use another custom app (or apps) that you need to install and manage from time to time. The connection of the Apple Watch with iPhones, but also iPads, Macs (perhaps with regard to their unlocking) and AirPods is simply unique. No one else can give you the advantage of having what is on your computer and phone, even in your watch (Samsung is trying hard, but perhaps its computers are not available in our country, and even if they are, they do not have their own operating system).
Then of course there is exercise and various fitness features. Apple runs on calories, while others mostly run on steps. If you are not very active, then the step indicator may give you more, but when you sit on the bike, you do not take a single step, and thus you have problems catching up with your daily goals. Apple takes the steps back, so it doesn't really matter what activity you're doing as long as you're burning calories. In addition, you can joke with other Apple Watch owners here. Even the competition can do this, but still only within the brand. If your neighborhood is more Apple-positive here, it will also influence you when choosing a smart watch.
Personalization
No other smartwatch also offers you such a variety of playful watch faces, whether you need minimalist, infographic, or any other. Thanks to the quality of the display, everyone who is available here will stand out. Which is precisely the difference from, for example, Samsung, whose dials are dull and uninteresting. Not to mention Garmin, there is a lot of misery there and choosing one that will suit you in all respects is a long shot.
Apple also scored with its proprietary straps. They are not cheap, but their replacement is simple, fast, and by constantly changing their collection, he was able to make the Apple Watch a highly customizable device. Combined with the number of dials, you are unlikely to meet anyone whose watch looks exactly the same as yours.
Apple Watch is simply just one, and even if practically everyone tries to copy it in some way (be it in appearance or functions), they cannot reach such a comprehensive result. So if you like the look of the Apple Watch, it's just the perfect extension of your iPhone.
Mr. Editor, how long will you write these nonsensical articles unilaterally preferring the Apple Watch? There are already quite enough of those articles from you, and I'm really tired of writing a comment in each one that will at least objectively balance Garmin watches, which are completely different from your Watch. The incredibly biased articles on these "amazing" sites are convincing me more and more that I should stop following them. And I am a person who has been using the Apple ecosystem since about 2003 until now. The horror. I don't know where they get such "editors". Today everyone is an editor, just like a moderator :))

Terrible candies
Listen, I have an idea too... stop watching and give it a rest 👌🤪
+1 as sorry, but this is VERY BEYOND ANY OBJECTIVITY! I have an iphone and an apple watch and before that I had a Samsung and a watch. And what really bothers me are dials that look like children's watches. Samsung had X dials that really looked like watches. That's not here. Sure, it's subjective.
Those watch faces would slow me down… I had a Galaxy watch and there were endless third party watch faces. Looks from classic watches to various digital watches to design madness. But with the iPhone it was no longer what I needed. So I bought the AW because of the functionality, it's great, but the dials are awesome. But as the first post says, the bias is too strong and lacks objectivity.
Exactly. Clouds of watch faces are available on Samsungs, both free and high-quality paid ones.

Although I have them, the only uniqueness is that they last a day and have a charger every day.
They are unique in that they are disgustingly angular. Always. Gold svycars ftw…
It has to be charged every day, while at night it has to be monitored by sleep and what is eaten. So I don't know when to let it charge. Either it won't sense altitude or sleep... head 22
Any positives are overshadowed by one big negative – the battery. The connectivity with other Apple devices is excellent, but with the connectivity of such Samsung devices with other devices, the author is only groping and working with impressions and not with real experiences. Basically unnecessary comparisons with competition, which in the Apple world is non-existent or minimal, just as the iWatch is no competition in the Windows and Android world.
Apple is not what it used to be. It's no longer escaping, it's already a sign.
Mr. Adam Kos. I also listen to your podcast, follow your page. Your articles and those of your colleagues sometimes have something in common. But with the Apple Watch, you're completely out of it. I had them, now I have other Garmins and it's heaven and hell. Just the endurance is completely different. And do you need an application? After all, what would smartphones be without apps? Either iPhone or Android without an application would be like a brief Nokia. So try to pull yourself together and when it comes to AW, land on the ground :-)
It's such nonsense, Apple, it's not a very good watch, it's ugly for me, maybe Huawei can do more and last longer, I know friends who have an iPhone, but the only watch is the Huawei watch gt 3, I also had a Samsung, it's terrible shit, dead in one day.. my Huawei can do everything, except NFC payment, but the endurance is 12 days.. and I have everything turned on... sleep, temperature..
Which psychopath sroNava smart watch vs sport tester? Surprisingly, smw will have nice display ladies and I can upload all kinds of crap there, and sports are marginal. Vs, for example, Garmin/Polar, load them with functions for athletes, I don't like watching YouTube there... This article is rubbish, and it only underlines the author's ignorance of technology other than Apple's...
Mr. Editor apparently enjoys some benefits from Apple, so he sings the song of whose bread he eats. It's complete nonsense about Garmins and Samsungs, it's very resistant to self-embarrassment. Who would want an overpriced Apple that can't even measure quality sports metrics and only lasts a day :))
Heh ad connection, wear od will connect with everything across brands, aw only with Apple.samsung can't be taken as a bear coin for wear od because it's tizen running on android.another advantage of wear os is that it can be completely customized, anyway. Like phone os.ad straps, all other manufacturers have, except for exceptional pieces, universal straps that you can get. Every convenience store or on Aliexpress.. as far as health data is concerned, amazfit/Xiaomi are the best, and especially with Xiaomi, it's a shame that it's not compatible due to applications with wear from, because on the other hand, the battery life is great.
