Few days ago we have informed you, that the limera1n jailbreak by Geohot has been released for most iOS devices supporting iOS 4-4.1. The article stated, among other things, that the Chronic Dev Team was also planning to release its jailbreak. He recently released greenpois0n.

Greenpois0n is essentially no different from Geohot's jailbreak. It uses the same exploit. Originally, before Geohot released limera1n, the Chronic Dev Team planned to release their jailbreak, which would be based on the shatter exploit. Or if it uses a security hole in the used A4 processors that we find in the latest iPhone model.

But Geohot released limera1n unannounced, so it would be pointless to release a jailbreak with a shatter exploit, because Apple could patch two security holes in the next version of iOS. Therefore, the Chronic Dev Team decided to use the same exploit as the one used by Geohot. So it is up to the user which of the two selected jailbreaks to use.

Greenpois0n supports these devices:

  • iPhone 3GS,
  • iPhone 4,
  • iPod touch 3rd generation,
  • iPod touch 4rd generation,
  • iPad.

Greenpois0n can be done by users on windows and linux operating system. So even the Chronic Dev Team hasn't released a Mac version yet, but they also promise that we should see it soon. How to jailbreak? We will show this again in the following tutorial. The procedure is again very simple.

We will need:

  • Computer with windows, linux,
  • iOS devices,
  • iTunes.
