During yesterday's announcement of Apple's financial results for the third fiscal quarter of 2019, Tim Cook also opened up the issue of Mac Pro production, among other things. In this context, Apple's director stated that his company "made Mac Pros in the United States and wants to continue to do so" and added that the company is currently working to make the production of Mac Pros in the United States feasible in the future .

We recently you informed that Mac Pro production will be moving from the United States to China. The company that has been manufacturing these computers in Austin, Texas until now is closing its current factory. The company Quanta should take care of the production of Macs in China. Cook's statement yesterday suggests that Apple is apparently not yet fully ready to produce new Mac Pros outside the United States, and wants to invest as much as possible in local production. So it's likely that moving Mac Pro production to China will only be temporary, and Apple will do its best to get computers back in the United States.

In connection with manufacturing in the US, Apple has been trying to negotiate an exemption for its computers, under which it could be exempted from tariffs imposed on parts from China. But this request did not meet with success, and US President Donald Trump told Apple that if the production was carried out in the United States, no tariffs would apply.

Due to strained relations with China, Apple is gradually moving production to other countries. For example, the production of selected iPhone models takes place in India, while the production of AirPods wireless headphones should be moved to Vietnam for a change.
