Tablets are great companions for work, study and entertainment. Thanks to their large display, simple interface and touch screen, they combine the best of the worlds of computers/laptops and mobile phones. At the same time, they are compact, easy to carry and work with practically anywhere. Tablets have undergone a fairly fundamental development in recent years. After all, this can also be observed directly on Apple iPads, which have changed significantly over the past 5 years.

Apple has now made a certain move forward with the brand new basic iPad of the 10th generation, which has not only received a new design, but also a number of other changes. Specifically, the iconic home button has disappeared, the Touch ID fingerprint reader has been moved to the upper power button, the outdated Lightning has been replaced by a USB-C connector, and so on. At the same time, the giant from Cupertino decided to make one more change – it definitively removed the 3,5 mm jack connector from its tablets. The basic model was the last representative that still had this port. That's why we now only find it on Macs, while iPhones and iPads are simply unlucky. What the giant probably doesn't realize is that it sent a clear signal to a specific group of users.

Producers are looking for alternatives

As we mentioned above, the iPad is a multi-functional device that can be used for several purposes. That is why it can also be used for creating music. After all, the developers themselves record this. The App Store is literally full of all kinds of applications for creating music, which are also available for relatively large sums. For people who engage in these activities, the missing jack is an extremely unpleasant fact that they have to deal with. In this way, it loses important connectivity. Of course, an adapter can be offered as a solution. But even that is not entirely ideal, as you have to give up the possibility of charging. You simply have to choose between charging and jack.

Apple users dedicated to creating music on iPads are more or less out of luck and have to accept the decision. The chance for Jack's return is understandably very slim and it's more or less clear that we won't see him again. Apple's approach to this topic is rather strange. While in the case of iPhones and iPads, the giant declared the 3,5 mm jack obsolete and slowly removed it from all devices, for Macs it is taking a different path, where the jack partly represents the future. Specifically, the redesigned MacBook Pro (2021) came with an improved audio connector.
