CarPlay, Apple's in-car infotainment system, has been around for a while now, but it looks like it could begin to expand more significantly across different makes and models this year and next. Škoda Auto also uses CarPlay in its cars.

For the first time, Apple has published an official list of cars, in which we can find out what cars with CarPlay we can look forward to in 2016 and 2017. These are more than 100 new models from 21 car manufacturers, including Audi, Citroën, Ford, Opel, Peugeot and Škoda.

Thanks to CarPlay, you can easily connect your iPhone in the car and control the entire infotainment system as well as the car's functions via the main display. In addition, everything works great with the Siri voice assistant, so you don't have to be distracted by reaching for the display while driving, but everything can be controlled "hands-free" and by voice.

In the Czech Republic, the problem remains that Siri does not speak Czech, but otherwise it is not a problem to work with Maps, calling, sending messages, playing music and other third-party applications. At the same time, CarPlay cooperates, for example, with the buttons on the steering wheel, which again facilitates and improves the whole experience.

Apple's first time introduced CarPlay almost two years ago, but a key innovation she came last summer. At WWDC, Apple opened up its platform for automakers and their applications to control various vehicle functions, which is crucial for car manufacturers to implement.

In order to use CarPlay, you need - in addition to a compatible car - at least an iPhone 5 with iOS 8.

We can also look forward to CarPlay in Škoda cars. In addition, it already started selling 2016 models last year, so CarPlay (and also Android Auto) within of the SmartLink system use with the latest Fabia, Rapid, Octavia, Yeti and Superb models.

You can find a complete list of cars with CarPlay on the Apple website.
