If you didn't know why there still isn't a new Tweetbot for iPad or Mac, it's because the Tapbots development team has been working on a completely different app. Paul Haddad and Mark Jardin decided to introduce another application for Mac - Calcbot, so far only known from iOS, a medium-advanced and, above all, excellently graphically executed calculator with a unit converter.

Calcbot is primarily a calculator. Anyone who has ever tried the application of the same name on an iPhone or iPad will feel right at home on a Mac. Unlike the iOS version, which was last updated more than a year ago and is not only not updated in the style of iOS 7, but is not even ready for four-inch and larger displays, Calcbot for Mac is fully ready for the latest OS X Yosemite.

Tapbots offers all the essential features you'd expect from a calculator on Mac, and maybe a little more. Every calculation you perform appears on a "tape" that records all the actions you've taken. The basic Calcbot window contains only the display and basic buttons, the mentioned "tape" slides out on the right, another keyboard appears on the left, which expands the basic calculator with advanced functions.

One of the nice things about Calcbot when calculating is the fact that the entire calculated expression is displayed in the second line below the result itself, so you always have control over what expression you enter. From the history "tape", you can use all results and expressions, copy them and immediately recalculate them. There is also the possibility of an asterisk for individual results.

It's not just a calculator though, Tapbots have made Calcbot on Mac a unit converter that's integrated right into the calculator. If you have the converter activated, it automatically takes the result from the calculator and immediately displays the selected conversion in the line above it. All quantities (including data flow or radioactivity) and currency are available (the Czech crown is unfortunately still missing) and you can have quick access to specific scientific quantities such as Pi values or atomic weights.

As is usual with Tapbots, Calcbot for Mac is a perfect application in terms of processing and control (by simply using keyboard shortcuts, you practically do not need to reach for the touchpad/mouse). As in your review he mentioned Graham Spencer, you will discover the incredible attention to detail in the new Calcbot when you either simply tap the buttons on the calculator with the touchpad or press it.

Calcbot is also linked to iCloud, so it can sync your entire recording history between Macs, and Tapbots promise that this will soon be possible on iOS as well. So it seems that even Calcbot for iPhone could finally get a new version, which after a year without attention already has a decent layer of dust. For now, you can get this calculator for Mac, it costs €4,49, which is not such a surprise considering the policy and quality of apps from Tapbots.
