Over time, you get them from your business partners, suppliers and other people you come across in the course of your work. However, rather than carrying a pack of foreign business cards with you, it is better to save the data from them on your phone. But why do it manually when there's an app for it?
The company is responsible for one such application SHAPE Services, the authors of the popular IM client, among others IM +. The application uses OCR technology, which is optical character recognition using computer algorithms. Digitized printed documents are converted into a text file that you can edit further. Among the most famous programs used in computers are ABBYY Finereader.
Thanks to OCR technology, the application can do so Business Card Reader identify the individual data on the business card and then fill them in the appropriate fields of the new contact form. Although many world languages are supported, Czech is still missing among them. It simply does not recognize our alphabet extended by hooks and commas. It is therefore necessary to add the given characters manually. Nevertheless, it can be said that the application does a great job and correctly recognizes 99% of the data. However, the success depends on the quality of the original, problems can arise with too small or blurry font.

After starting the application, you can choose whether you want to convert an already photographed business card or scan a new one. In the following step, BC Reader directly creates a new contact form and fills it with the detected data. Once you have checked that all the data and letters are correct, you can save the contact. At the same time, it will also be saved in a kind of business card tray, which you can find in the application.
The business card in the stack contains the given image and is linked to the contact you created with it. You can then save it to the gallery or delete the entire business card. In addition to creating a new contact, the application can also connect data with an existing contact in the directory, and if the person in question is present on the business social network LinkedIn, it is also possible to search for them in this business database from the application. The integrated browser will be used for this.
The entire application is presented in a decent graphic jacket, and if you are willing to put up with the lack of support for Czech characters, Business Card Reader will do you a great service.
