The Christmas season is the most profitable. After all, when else will customers let go of that crown than in the fourth quarter of the year or the first fiscal quarter of the following one (which is the same, just with a different name). But Apple is facing considerable problems and it is very likely that this season will be poor.

Apple has the cards clearly dealt. In September, it will show the world the new iPhones, from which it expects a clear sales hit with a clear targeting for the Christmas season. But this year his strategy suffered many cracks. In turn, he was thrown a pitchfork by COVID-19 and the closing of Chinese production lines, when he cannot satisfy the market with his Pro models. That is, the models that people really want, because few people are satisfied with the basic series, just because you can count the differences from the previous generation on the fingers of one hand.

But if you want to make yourself or someone else happy with a new Apple product under the tree, and it won't be the iPhone 14 Pro (Max), what do you go for? We have new iPads here, but sales of which are falling again after the coronavirus boom, possibly expensive and for many unnecessary Apple Watch Ultra or still the same Apple Watch Series 8 or AirPods Pro 2nd generation. Judging by Apple's newly released Christmas ad, they may be targeting Apple headphones (the new Apple TV 4K will certainly not be a bestseller).

Do you want an iPhone? Buy AirPods Pro

Could this really be the perfect gift? They have the quality of AirPods Pro, and their price won't strain your wallet as much as if you were buying an iPhone. But is this the main item that Apple wants to draw the crowds to? In message for investors coming from investment bank UBS, analyst David Vogt found that waiting times for iPhone 14 Pro models have increased again. Based on data that tracks iPhone availability in 30 countries around the world, wait times in most markets, including the US, have increased to around 34 days. So it's probably clear to you that you really can't expect these models under the tree.

At the end of October, the waiting list was 19 days. UBS expected the eager to reach for the basic line. But that generally doesn't happen because consumers aren't satisfied with it, even though the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are available immediately. While it's good that the most powerful new releases are so popular, not being available at the most important time of the year will be a problem for Apple. Sales will not grow, and if they do, only minimally, and it will simply look bad in the quarterly "bill". Of course, this will also have an impact on stocks.

New iPhones, old computers

Apple also lacks computers. Not that he didn't have them in stock, but he didn't present any fall attractions that would target the Christmas season. The newest machines are those from June, when it comes to the M2 13" MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, for example, the iMac is already a year and a half old, the Mac mini is two years old, and the 14 and 16" MacBook Pro line is a year old. So Apple Christmas can be more about old or unavailable products, which just doesn't look very good. He and the AirTag are definitely not some hot new product, although they will surely please.

In addition, there are practically no discounts. Apple Black Friday is rather just not to say, but it is not a bargain purchase, which is the difference compared to other companies. In contrast to all this, Samsung's strategy of introducing a flagship only after the New Year may appear more effective. At the same time, it introduced new puzzles and watches just a month before Apple, so its latest products are practically the same age. But you can buy them significantly cheaper, because the company provides diametrically different and more favorable promotions, which we wrote about here.
