Smart sunglasses, created by the world-famous brand Ray-Ban in collaboration with Facebook, caused considerable privacy concerns, but apparently, they also awakened the creativity of their users. Famous British photographer Rankin recently shot the world's first magazine cover using just this little gadget. Both as props and as a camera.

rankin used Ray Ban Stories to photograph the cover of the Hunger magazine issue, where the actress posed with the same glasses Anya Chalotra. She is best known for her role as Yennefer of Vengerberg in the Netflix series The Witcher, whose much-anticipated second season premieres on December 17.

Facebook

Photographing the covers of various magazines with mobile phones is certainly nothing new. He already tried it in 2016 Sport illustrated, and it worked for him. It wasn't long before magazines such as Billboard, Elle, Time, COSAS and more followed. When the covers were no longer enough, not only commercials and music videos, but even entire films, such as Soderbergh's Insane, or currently also Czech City, which was even shot on an iPhone 8 Plus with a Moondog lens. However, it was not always about iPhones. Qualities generally shift across the market.

Ray-Ban Stories

In collaboration with Facebook, the American company engaged in the production of sunglasses and prescription glasses Ray-Ban has developed the first generation of its smart glasses that will try to keep you connected. This is not the first such attempt, as Snap, the creator of Snapchat, also tried it with its version, with glasses Shows. But Ray-Ban is a concept, Facebook has billions of users, while Snapchat clearly has a narrower scope. Therefore, we can expect much greater success here.

It was only a matter of time before technology began to move in such a direction that it would open the door to new possibilities, which is exactly what the Ray-Ban/Facebook duo is doing. And all they need for this is a 5MPx camera, with which the glasses are fitted. It is not for nothing that they say that technique is only half of photography. Of course, you still need to know what to do, and then even with such a device you will get a really high-quality result worthy of a similar presentation, such as the cover of a magazine.

Expectations from Apple Glass

And now take the potential that is offered here next. By wearing glasses, you can take your creativity in photo and video making to a whole other level. It just depends on how you can grasp it and what you can come up with. And personally, I am extremely curious to see what Apple itself can come up with in its much-anticipated product workingly named "Glass".

It is most often talked about in connection with augmented reality, but no longer in combination with photographic capabilities. But there is practically no reason why they could not do such a thing. All the big players are betting on the "next" reality, and it's practically only a question of when we'll see the first swallow, rather than if at all.
