Simplifying and speeding up typing on the iPhone is the main goal of the Brevity application. How is she doing?

The Brevity application is based on the fact that individual words can be identified using fewer letters. An improved T9 dictionary, if you will. For example, if you type "Colonel", Brevity predicts the words and offers several options in a small window - application, ampoule, apply, applies, etc. And that's how it works every time you start typing.

You can easily switch to the desired language - press the globe button on the keyboard. The application is in Czech, English and other world languages. A total of 10 dictionaries/10 languages are available. Thanks to this, it is possible to write correspondence in a foreign language, for example, because the dictionary will tell you the correct grammar.

The entire application is in the form of notes. You can write an unlimited number of them and delete them individually. If you're right in the note, you're typing fast. Brevity doesn't even try to do anything else. The written note is in the form of plain text without any formatting. One button is here as a "back" function and the other one opens several options. You can close and delete the note, close and save, copy its entire text and send the text by email or message. In the global settings in the notes list, you can also set the word prediction font and the transparency of the entire word table, remove misspelled words and place the back button.

The idea of predicting words by typing only a few letters is good, the prediction works without problems. Subjectively, after the first launch, Brevity lags behind even the automatic word completion in iOS, which seemed faster to me. It's a matter of opinion, someone will be more comfortable with Brevity because it doesn't disturb the "dogs". For the first few days or weeks (depending on the intensity of use), the word selection is delayed. And if you make a mistake, another delay is in the world. In the longer term, the application will "adapt" to your vocabulary. It will offer you the most frequently used words first in the list, just type two letters and the desired word will appear. Please try to write the same sentence twice.

Word selection as you can see in the picture is from a changing table and you just tap on the word.

If the Brevity application came with some improvement of the selected words, it would certainly be even better. I could blame the authors for the fact that if the written word is in the first place and you press the spacebar (as you logically do with autocorrection in iOS), the application does not insert the first word. You must always tap on it. And that's the downside of Brevity. In English, everything is a little easier, because you don't have to worry about hooks and commas, so everything is faster. If the developers come up with some not-so-revolutionary, but smart word selection other than tapping directly on the word, Brevity could be a small revolution in typing. But I still have hope, the app is not very old and is now in version 1.1 for both iPhone and iPad. We'll see what UnderWare LLC comes up with in the future with the app, but for now I'm sticking with classic typing.
According to the developers at UnderWare LLC, the app is suitable for people with motor impairments, several schools have already purchased Brevity for students with disabilities or motor impairments.
