There is never enough space in the cloud, and while we are still far from replacing physical storage with cloud storage due to limited data plans, for many occasions it is useful to have some space on remote servers for access from any device. We've shown you before overview of current cloud services, from which you could get a picture of which of the available options is best for you. One of them, Box (formerly Box.net), currently has an interesting offer for iOS users.
They can get ten times more free space than the standard 5 GB. To get 50GB of free cloud storage, all you have to do is download the Box app for iPhone or iPad within the next 30 days and sign in from there, or register if you don't already have an account with the service. After successful registration, you will receive an email confirming your bonus in the form of 50 GB. You can use the space, for example, to store your entire music library or photo library without burdening your existing Dropbox.
The offer is related to the release of a new update of the client for iOS, which was completely rewritten and significantly changed the design in the style of iOS 7. In addition to viewing saved files and uploading photos, the application has, for example, full-text search in the content of documents, similar to Google Drive, or the ability to save files locally . The service works on a similar principle to Dropbox, you can share links to your files or share an entire folder with someone. There is also a client for OS X and Windows.
Although the promotion is limited in time, the 50 GB obtained will remain with you forever.

and is there a way to get 50 GB if I already have an account?
Yes, just log in to the application, see the article. Tested for you.
thank you, first I downloaded the app and nothing, now I uninstalled, reinstalled and that's it. solved, thank you
You are missing one important detail in the article. Max file size: 250MB. this is the limitation of this free version. They already offered 50GB, and I've had it since then, but I don't use the box so that I don't have to keep an eye on the fact that I'll have a bigger archive somewhere and it won't be able to be saved there.
just download/update the iOS app and sign in. I think they are already created. I deleted the application and reinstalled + update, and the cloud size of 50GB is already displayed in the client on the computer.
Good day. How long is the 50 GB available for? Is the offer limited in time? Thank you.
I've had the 50 GB there for 2,5 years when LG had a contract with Box as a counter to Samsung and Dropbox. I assume that it is not time-limited :-) they have other restrictions on the number of files and the maximum file size of 250mb :-)
yes, there are other limitations besides the size, which I don't know about. what is the number I hope at least 50gb/250mb :-D
I think that 50000 + their application works a little better than the previous one, in the way that it uses its cache, for example, for photos... which, however, can occupy up to 30 percent of the memory of an iOS device... Unlike Dropbox, which deletes itself immediately. Anyway, I only use Box.Com as a server where I back up all the photos from my computer in case my mother's computer crashes and I have an external drive. I never got to any other use :-) when I use dropbox for mobile photos and google drive for documents
For me, the insurmountable obstacle is the lack of synchronization in the free version. I really don't want to upload files manually after every change, and €15/month is not enough either.
Something tells me that your obstacle is not... according to what I remember, BOX has its own folder, just like DROPBOX, in which you can change files and they are uploaded
where to download client for OSX?
on their website, it's called boxsync. but I'll give you some advice. if you don't need automatic synchronization and you don't want to keep their client application running all the time, box can also access webdav. :) just connect to the server, the address will be there https://dav.box.com/dav and name and password your name and password :) it will be mounted like a network drive.
it has the advantage that if you have a small disk. so you can move it there without having to keep the files offline on the disk. Of course, if you launch the client app, it will start to sync offline.
I would like this option. Of course through the address https://dav.box.com/dav I can't log in. I don't know if the problem is with me or if this service is already down..
it works normally. So I tried it through ForkLift, but it should also work in the Finder. Menu Open/Connect to server.. and enter the full address there.
Yes, it works for me too. But as I already wrote above with an attempt with the iTunes library, it is outrageously slow. Previewing the file takes forever, loading the contents of the folder same thing. Even just deleting a few KB items takes maybe 2 minutes and it still ends up with an error. I finally gave up and deleted her from the web interface in no time. I'm trying it in both Finder and ForkLift. Does it work normally for you there?
I consider the possibility to choose which folders I want to have synchronized on my computer to be an interesting thing and an advantage compared to dropbox for me.
After all, it can be selected on the desktop and in dropbox.
would it be possible to add qr codes to mobile apps? I think it's more efficient than downloading with itunes
If I've had a box account with 50GB for a couple of years and now I perform the mentioned process of downloading, running the application, etc. and logging in with my account, will I get another 50GB in addition to the existing 50GB?
Interestingly, after applying the described process, the application on the iPhone shows 19,92GB, 9,37GB on the iPad, and 50GB via the web interface.
Comrades must have made a mistake somewhere.
Has anyone tried creating an iTunes library on the Box? I mounted the Box as a network drive (as tipped below), launched iTunes while holding the option key, and created a library on the network drive as normal. So iTunes created the classic library structure there, but unfortunately it won't launch. When I try to open it with this library, it always ends with an unknown error. Any suggestions? Thanks.
So it finally got started. So it probably works, the problem is that it is outrageously slow, iTunes in the dock jumps about 20 times (I can see how the various iTunes cache files on the Box change in the folder with the library), the main iTunes window starts and until the end of the world the rainbow wheel spins and nothing can be done about it. I had no more patience and took it off. It's a shame, but I wonder why it's so slow.
because it is webdav protocol. it's not made for streaming content, it's slow. box net has an installable plugin on the website (apps section) that should be able to stream audio/video.
it works quickly for me on small files, it starts to falter with large ones. it is necessary to go through international forums where people deal with it.
Thanks for the responses. It's slow even for that webdav. Box sync (mmch. more demanding application than Dropbox and also constantly eats up something from the CPU) I know what it will do, but I just wanted to connect it as a network drive. I'll try to search a bit on international forums.
try it through their installed box sync application. a Box Sync folder will be created in your home.
I installed it on an iPhone5 and the battery lasted from about 6 to 14 hours, after uninstalling it lasts a whole day again :-( Kind of weird
The 250MB limit per file would still be missed, but the hell is that they cut off the Mac desktop synchronization support for free accounts. In order to activate the synchronization with the Mac, it is necessary to upgrade to a business account for 36 euros per month
Do you ever have a trick for automatic synchronization of selected folders in the free version???
Please help a beginner. I can't connect to iCloud even though I have a valid Apple ID account. It keeps telling me to reset my Apple ID password, which doesn't do anything for me to sign in to iCloud. So I uninstalled iCloud completely, including the context in the registries, and reinstalled iCloud from the Internet. When I try to sign in with my password, I get a message again saying that my Apple ID password is correct, but it's not an iCloud password. What with this? Thanks in advance for your help.
