In the coming weeks, Apple should complete the acquisition of Beats Electronics, and it is possible that it will have to deal with a nasty lawsuit right away. Bose is now suing Beats for violating its noise canceling technology.

So far, the two companies have successfully co-existed side by side, but Bose is now set to take its competitor to court. Ambient noise reduction technology can be found in the Beats Studio, Beats Studio Wireless and Beats Pro headphones, with the first two mentioned products being named by Bose in its lawsuit. They are supposed to be infringing on the patents that are the cornerstone of Bose's business.

Bose v document presented to the court describes its long history, extensive research and significant investments in the field of ambient noise reduction, all of which began as early as 1978. Bose's QuietComfort range of headphones has earned great popularity among frequent flyers, for example, thanks to its efficient technology reduction of ambient noise.

Bose is hoping that the court will uphold the illegal use of its patents in Beats products, while seeking a ban on the sale of those products as well as payment of damages.
