MacRumors.com reports that information about Bob Mansfield, Apple's senior vice president, has been removed from the company's top management pages more than a day ago. His biography is also missing, but so far the pages can still be found in the Google cache. According to Forbes magazine, Apple has not yet responded to a request for comment. However, Mansfield is still listed on the UK, German and Australian sites.

Mansfield joined Apple in 1999 when the Cupertino firm bought Raycer Graphics, where the University of Austin bachelor of engineering graduate served as vice president of development. In the new workplace, he oversaw the development of computers and was behind breakthrough products such as MacBook Air, iMac, and since 2010 he also led the development of iPhones, iPods and iPads.

In June 2012, Bob Mansfield announced his retirement. But there is speculation that the real reason was a dislike of Scott Forstall. But Tim Cook managed to convince Mansfield to stay at Apple for at least another two years after Forstall's "departure".

According to AllThingsD:

"Bob will no longer be part of Apple's executive team, but will remain with the company, working on special projects and reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook," company spokesman Steve Dowling said. He refused any further explanation, declined to comment on Mansfield's surprise change of position and did not comment on his possible successor as head of hardware.
