Steampunk sci-fi horror Bioshock is considered by many to be the best game of 2007, and it is certainly not unique that it is one of the best games in general.

Bioshock is a game ideologically combining elements of Ayn Rand's Objectivist philosophy and George Orwell's dystopian novels and aesthetically inspired by Art Deco art style combined with steam-punk, which together create a bizarre, futuristically obscure atmosphere of underwater "cities of the future" Rapture. In 2007, it was released on PC and Xbox 360, the following year on PS3, and a year later, Mac also received an official port.

Now the game's developer/publisher, 2K Games, has announced that Bioshock should also be playable on the iPad and iPhone later this year. It will not be a simplified version or a spin-off. Players will get to see the game in its full form (minus the reduced level of shadow effects and steam) and scale on iOS. On Touch arcade, where they had the opportunity to try out the iPad port, they also said that it will be possible to control the game both using the icons on the display and through additional hardware controllers.

As you can see in the attached video, at least on the iPad Air, the game works without stuttering. Article on Touch arcade also mentions the much more intimate, personal experience that gaming on a small hand-held display provides.

Neither the release date nor the price have yet been announced, estimates point to the not-too-distant days of the current summer and 10-20 dollars (in-app payments will not be present).
