Apple Music HiFi or the great news for all subscribers, which literally flew through the Internet yesterday, will bring people the ability to play songs in premium quality. Specifically, it brings with it surround sound, Dolby Atmos and a new format of lossless audio (Lossless Audio), which is encoded in the ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) codec to maintain the maximum possible quality. Although we already know that we will enjoy Dolby Atmos on all headphones, it is no longer so rosy when it comes to lossless audio.

Playing in the ALAC codec, namely will not be possible on any type of Apple AirPods, not even on the premium Max model. All models are limited by Bluetooth transmission technology, which is why they can only use the current AAC codec. In addition, the giant from Cupertino himself did not mention the support even once in the original press release, but only talked about the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Allegedly, the HomePod should be on it anyway, including the mini model. He was never mentioned again.

The novelty in the form of Lossless Audio is intended to offer a unique experience. Thanks to this, the music should reach our ears in the exact form in which the musician recorded it in the studio, as every single bit will be preserved. It will probably be necessary to reach for a USB digital-to-analog converter or other similar equipment to achieve the maximum possible quality. You may therefore be wondering if AirPods Max can be used with wired connection via Lightning. Unfortunately, even that is not possible, because the Lightning port on the headphones is limited to an analog source and therefore does not natively support digital audio formats when connected by cable.

How to rate songs in Apple Music:

It is quite strange that the so-called hi-res AirPods Max headphones, which cost 16 crowns, cannot even cope with playing music in a lossless format in the final. In any case, higher quality audio or Apple Music Hi-Fi will be available to subscribers at the beginning of June, probably with the release of the iOS 490 operating system. A huge advantage is that all benefits are already available as part of the subscription completely free of charge, without any additional fees.
