iPhone is designed to protect your data and privacy. Built-in security features help prevent anyone but you from accessing your iPhone and iCloud data. The Apple ID is the key, but like any identity on the web, it can be hacked. If you need to reset it, you can find instructions here.

In the 10th episode of the series about security on the iPhone, we talked about how to recognize an Apple ID account hack and how to defend yourself. If you want to change your password, but you can't log in, or you see that your account is locked, you need to reset it and then restore it. Of course, you may only need this if you simply forget your password.

How to Reset Apple ID Password on iPhone

Simply go to Settings, where at the very top choose your name. Here you will see a menu Password and security, which you select and select a menu Change Password. If you're signed in to iCloud and have a security code enabled, you'll be prompted for your device's passcode. After that, just follow the instructions on the display and change your password. You can do this on your trusted iPhone or that of a family member. However, if you do not currently have such a device, you can also reset your Apple ID password on another iPhone, but in the Apple Support or Find My iPhone applications.

Reset your password in the Apple Support app

First, of course, it is important to download the application Apple support in the App Store. The device on which you want to reset your Apple ID must have at least iOS 12 or later. So start the application and in the section Topics click on Passwords and security. Click here Reset your Apple ID password. choose Start and subsequently Another Apple ID. Only after that enter your Apple ID, which you need to reset, tap Next and follow the app's instructions until you see confirmation that the password has been changed.

After opening the app, make sure the Apple ID field is empty on the login screen. If it contains a name, delete it. If you don't see the login screen, tap Log out. Tap the menu Forgotten Apple ID or password and proceed as the title directs you.

Problem with two-factor authentication

If you've tried all of the previous methods but still can't reset your Apple ID password, it's possible that you're not signed in to iCloud, or more likely, you have two-factor authentication turned on. In that case, you need to support website of Apple.

Enter your Apple ID on them, select the password reset option and select the Continue menu. You will then be asked how you want to reset your password: security questions, sending an email to a rescue email address, a recovery key. Choose the last option, when you should receive a code on your phone number. Then just enter it on the website and create a new password. You confirm everything with an offer Reset password.
