Xiaomi's fitness bracelet with the designation Mi Band 6 NFC has arrived on the Czech market, where NFC indicates support for the Xiaomi Pay service. So, in order to be able to pay through a wearable device on your wrist, you certainly don't have to do so only with the Apple Watch. Although a few limitations can be found here.

Mi Smart Band 6 NFC boasts improved functions, such as improved tracking of sports activities, where it offers 30 training modes, including popular exercises such as HIIT, Pilates or Zumba. Monitoring of health and sleep in general also improved. The device's AMOLED display provides 50% more surface area than the previous generation, and thanks to its high resolution of 326 ppi, images and text are clearer than ever before. Water resistance is 50 m and battery life is 14 days.

The range of Mi Band bracelets pays for the best you can have in the given category. From the beginning, they score not only with their functions but also with their price. E.g. the new product with NFC support has a recommended price of CZK 1, but you can get it across Czech e-shops starting at CZK 290.

Xiaomi Pay

It must be said that the Mi Band 6 NFC can actually make contactless payments even in the Czech Republic, but it is also necessary to take into account certain limitations. This is the fact that it practically only works with MasterCard from ČSOB. Other banks are supposed to be added over time, but no one knows what they will be except mBank and how quickly they will do it. But there is also the Curve service, which can bypass insufficient support from banks.

You can easily add a supported card to the bracelet. Just install the free app on your iOS device Xiaomi Wear Lite, log in with a Mi account or register anew, select the Mi Smart Band 6 NFC Fitness bracelet on the Devices tab and activate it. In the Xiaomi Pay tab, you will then fill in your card information and you confirm the authorization via SMS.

If you do not have a MasterCard from ČSOB, you can download the application for free Corners. Registration is also required here, but it is also extremely simple. However, a national identity card or other proof of identity is also needed to verify it. Apart from MasterCard, the platform also supports Maestro and Visa cards.

Payment process

Payments are then made by tapping the screen to activate the wristband, then go to the payment cards section by simply swiping left from the main screen. Click the arrow to activate card payment. If necessary, you will still enter the unlock code of the device. To pay, you simply attach the bracelet to the payment terminal. Once activated, the card is active for 60 seconds or until payment is made.

Thanks to the fact that it is necessary to confirm each payment from the wristband menu, this is a clear protection against unwanted payment. Then as soon as you take off (lose) the bracelet, thank you the automatic detection of the removal of the bracelet from the hand, a PIN is automatically required when it is subsequently handled. However, if this actually happens, you can remove the card from the mobile app or delete the entire bracelet. With NFC payments in stores, your card is encrypted with a one-time code that does not contain any personal data, the merchant will not know your card number. You don't need the internet to pay, and you don't even have to have your phone with you.
