Apple today announced record initial sales for the new iPhone 5, which hit Apple Store shelves on September 21st in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. During pre-orders sold over two million new phones, in the first three days it is a record five million units.
By comparison, 4th generation iPhones sold 1,7 million and iPhone 4S over 4 million during the same period. The iPhone 5 thus became the most successful phone in Apple's history. Another big wave of interest can be expected on September 28, when the phone will go on sale in another 22 countries, including the Czech Republic and Slovakia. However, with prices with our operators it won't be so happy, we are still waiting to see what prices Apple will list on its Czech e-shop. In addition to record sales, the Californian company also announced that more than 100 million iOS devices currently have the latest iOS 6 operating system installed. Tim Cook also commented on the record sales:
“The demand for iPhone 5 is incredible and we are doing everything we can to get iPhone 5 to everyone who is interested as soon as possible. Although we have sold out of the initial stock, stores continue to regularly receive additional deliveries, so customers can still order online and receive the phone in the estimated time (estimated in weeks on the Apple Online Store, editor's note). We appreciate all customers' patience and are working hard to make enough iPhone 5s for everyone."
I'm not surprised at all. Today I went to the Apple store in Dresden and the phone is really cool. Top-notch and fast camera, feels like a big difference in weight, beautiful design, even the aluminum back looks better than expected. The overall speed of the system is noticeably better against my iP4, the display is great. Overall it's excellent. Right at the entrance was a sign announcing that they don't have iPhones in stock, but that they receive shipments every day. So I'm curious about the start of sales here. I hope it's up to us.
Wait, but the analysts said that number is a huge disappointment, because according to their calculations, 1000000000000 iPhones should have been sold. Apple is going wild!!!

And which analysts? How would you like to sell more than everything? :-)

To the editor: The mobile look of Jablickare is kind of bad. There is a button missing to go to other sections than just the introductory overview of the article, and especially it is not possible to load other articles than those that fit on the introductory page. After choosing to load other articles (at the very bottom), the article from January 2009 will be loaded.
Thanks for the heads up, we'll look into it. However, a completely new form of the mobile version is on the way, which should solve the problems.
Analysts say it's a disappointment and the stock is going down...which I don't understand either. What would they like if it's sold out? and in addition, do you think that it will grow constantly and that everyone will have an iPhone? Incredible. I think this is clearly a sales success, even if the phone is not revolutionary. I think even Apple didn't count on who knows what sales when it's sold out. In addition, unfortunately, the problems at Foxcon were added. There is still some in stock in Europe, but it will be gone quickly.
And I have already ordered! Black version, 32GB. I'm really looking forward to it.
