Analyzing and evaluating our sleep is nothing new. Most fitness bracelets can already record sleep cycles, but having a Fitbit or Xiaomi Mi Band 2 not everyone is comfortable even when sleeping. Personally, I have sometimes developed a rash under rubber bracelets, which is why I limit wearing them significantly. That's why I've been using it for a long time for sleep monitoring Beddit monitor, which was recently released in its third generation and brings several major innovations.

Beddit is a highly sensitive device that can measure and evaluate all important aspects of your sleep, without the need to wear bracelets at night. The device consists of a measuring strip that you place under the bed sheet and plug into a socket using a USB connector and an adapter.

Right from the first application of Beddit B3, you will notice a big improvement compared to the previous generation. This had to be stuck to the mattress using a double-sided adhesive film, so if you wanted to move the Beddit somewhere, you always had to use the instructions to replace the adhesive film with a new one. That was quite impractical, so the new third generation has a rubberized underside and even holds on to the mattress even better.

Automatic measurement

The developers have also noticeably improved the measurement method, which works on the principle of ballistography. In addition to the pressure sensor, the strip got a completely new capacitive touch sensor, i.e. the same one you know from smartphone displays. It can start the measurement automatically as soon as you lie down in bed, and also stop the measurement when you get up in the morning (only works on iOS).

Another significant difference is the very appearance of the strip. The sensitive part is now stored in a comfortable padded case with a thickness of only 1,5 mm. The developers state that you won't even feel the strip now, which I already felt with the previous generation. Beddit never restricted or hindered me in bed. Thanks to the rubberized side, I don't even have to worry about whether the Beddit accidentally moved or twisted somewhere during the night.

Beddit in collaboration with the app of the same name for all iOS devices and recently also for Apple Watch, it records and evaluates all the parameters and progress of your sleep: it can measure not only heart rate, breathing cycles, sleep frequency, but also snoring. I finally believe the woman that I really snore at night. Sensors for measuring ambient temperature and humidity, which are very important factors in terms of sleep quality, are now hidden in the tiny USB connector that comes out from under your mattress.

The brain of the whole system is, of course, the application, where you can find all the data in the morning. These are transferred to the iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. You can also use the smart alarm clock while you sleep, which intelligently wakes you up at the ideal moment in your sleep cycle. However, I was a little disappointed by the fact that the alarm clock only works thanks to the iPhone, so in the morning I wake up with the sound of the phone and not, for example, the vibration of the measuring tape, which I would have liked so as not to wake up the whole family.

Finally a proper app

The developers also took to heart the negative feedback on their application, which they changed not only in terms of design, but finally added clear graphs and new indicators. Everything is now very clear, and every morning I can check, for example, my heart rate, which Beddit measures every thirty seconds. Now I can also see how long I snored or how many minutes it took me to fall asleep. Every morning I can also see my sleep in the summary of the so-called Sleep Score and I can comment and mark the previous night.

I also appreciate that the developers thought of Apple Watch users, where I can see not only my Sleep Score, but also basic data and statistics. It should also be noted that the device was developed in cooperation with specialized highly specialized workplaces in the field of sleep research and sleep disorders Helsinki Sleep Clinic and VitalMed Research Center.

In cooperation with Professor Merkku Partinen, a world-renowned expert in the field of sleep health and sleep research, the Beddit application was equipped with functionality not only for recording key values characterizing the course and quality of sleep, but also with individual recommendations. Based on my sleep, the application recommends and helps me adjust my habits and habits. Thanks to this, I have better quality sleep, which is crucial for subsequent functioning during the day.

The third generation of Beddit definitely succeeded. Moreover, it is not just a partial improvement, but rather a significant improvement of Beddit as a whole, from the design and functionality of the measuring tape to the improved mobile application. This is also why the Beddit B3 is a more expensive accessory, also thanks to the fact that it is a medically verified device - you can buy it at EasyStore.cz for 4 crowns. However, it also stood in the same way in its time previous generation, which you will now acquire for 2 crowns.
