Apple has managed to sign another interesting personality to prepare a new series for them, as part of a plan with an original programming offensive. Over the weekend, it was reported that director Ronald D. Moore, who has worked on several installments of the modern Star Trek, as well as the popular remake of the cult series Battlestar Galactica, will be joining Apple. He should prepare an as yet unspecified space drama for Apple. He has enough experience with this genre, so the result could be worth it.

Little is known about the new project. The series is said to be finished in terms of script, and the plot is supposed to revolve around an alternate history line in which the space race (between the United States and the Soviet Union) was never ended. In addition to the aforementioned director, producers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, who worked on the popular series Fargo, should also participate in the series. The film is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Tall Ship Productions.

Everything kind of fits together. Two executives from Sony have the main say in the preparation of original content. It is thanks to them that Apple should get this connection. We know from statements from recent months that Apple wants to come up with at least ten original series or movies with which to launch its planned streaming service, which it wants to compete with Netflix, Amazon or Hulu.

Apple has set a budget of one billion dollars for next year, which it wants to pump into the production of new content. So far we know that one series is also being prepared by Steven Spielberg and the second one by the duo of actresses Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. The whole thing is covered by a company called Apple Worldwide Video, about which we will hear a lot more in the future.
