The Arkham series will soon see its third installment with the title Batman: Arkham Origins and its creators decided to ease the wait by releasing a simpler, mobile version. A pure action "beat'em up" beater with the eponymous name is coming to iOS - Batman: Arkham Origins.

NetherRealm Studios already has one Batman game behind them, in 2011 they released a title for iOS Batman: Arkham City Lockdown. That's when they decided to emulate the success of the Big Game series (Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City) and bet on a classic superhero story interspersed with lots of action sequences. But critics condemned the story side, so the Chicago developers decided to take a different approach this time.

Batman: Arkham Origins is a conceptually simple beater in which a host of enemies await us in each level, which will attack us one by one. We will have to deal with them with the help of various abilities and improvements. We use them either by tapping on the icon at the bottom of the display or by simple gestures like quickly tap here, swipe left to right, tap 4 places at once and so.

On the simple map of Gotham, we always have a choice of several missions, where seemingly different enemies and environments await. But it only takes a few tens of minutes and all the content starts to repeat itself a little. Enemy models, their attacks, our abilities. In more difficult levels, at least bigger challenges start to appear over time, such as the impossibility of using all otherwise available abilities or the gradual loss of lives.

A nice extra bonus is the option to choose from several Batman suits. There are also the most modern ones, which we have seen in recent years, among other things, on movie screens. But then there are also such rarities as the suit in which Batman fought in World War II against the Nazis, or the outfit from the alternate world of Earth-Two.

Other than that, the game gets really repetitive after a while, so it's more suitable for playing here and there while waiting for the bus. In addition, this fact supports the use of a special game concept called stamina in Arkham Origins. It decreases for Batman after each mission, and after 4-5 fights, Alfred states that you should also sleep sometimes. Or use a special game currency that can be obtained almost exclusively for real money. The game also tries to get them out of us by offering the accelerated purchase of improvements and suits, which can otherwise only be obtained after a certain time.

So, although the game widely promotes the freemium model, purchases for real money are used by only a few players - it is quite possible to do without them. This title is not one of those that could really grow to one's heart. Its purpose is more to draw attention to the release of Batman: Arkham Origins for consoles and PC, which is already around the corner. The sale starts on the 25th. October October (unfortunately probably a bit later on Mac), until then you can shorten the wait with the graphically good, if somewhat simple iOS version.
