With the arrival of the iPhone 12, Apple phones received a rather interesting novelty called MagSafe. In fact, Apple placed a series of magnets in the back of the phones, which can then be used for simple attachment of accessories, for example in the form of covers or wallets, or for wireless charging with a power of up to 15 W. It didn't take long, and the so-called MagSafe Battery came into the picture Package. In a way, it is an additional battery that works like a power bank, which you just need to clip to the back of the phone to extend its life.

The MagSafe Battery Pack is the successor to the earlier Smart Battery Case. These functioned very similarly and their primary purpose was to extend the duration per charge. There was an additional battery and a Lightning connector in the cover. After putting on the cover, the iPhone was first recharged from it, and only after it was discharged did it switch to its own battery. The fundamental difference between the two products is that the Smart Battery Case was also a cover and thus protected the specific iPhone against potential damage. On the contrary, the MagSafe battery does it differently and focuses only on charging. Although the core of both variants remained the same, some apple growers are still calling for the return of traditional covers, which, according to them, had a number of indisputable advantages.

Why apple users prefer the Smart Battery Case

The previous Smart Battery Case benefited above all from its maximum simplicity. It was simply enough to put on the cover and that was the end of it all – the apple user thus extended the life of the battery for one charge and protected the device from possible damage. On the contrary, people do not use the MagSafe Battery Case in this way and, on the contrary, often attach it to the phone only when necessary. In addition, this MagSafe Battery is a bit rougher and can therefore be in the way for someone.

Therefore, an interesting discussion was opened between the users of these accessories, from which the former Smart Battery Case came out as the clear winner. According to the Apple users themselves, it is much more pleasant, practical and generally more convenient to use, while also offering solid charging. On the other hand, the MagSafe Battery Pack makes up for the fact that it is a wireless technology. As a result, this piece often overheats - especially now, in the summer months - which can occasionally cause overall efficiency issues. But if we look at it from the opposite side, the MagSafe Battery comes out as the clear winner. We can connect it to the device much better. The magnets will take care of everything, they will align the battery in the right place and then we are practically done.

Will the Smart Battery Case make a comeback?

An interesting question is whether we will ever see the return of the Smart Battery Case, so that Apple would actually be able to satisfy fans of this accessory. Unfortunately, we shouldn't count on a return. In recent years, technology companies have been making it clear to us that the future is simply wireless, which the aforementioned cover simply does not meet. Due to the decision of the European Union, iPhones are also expected to switch to the USB-C connector. This is one more reason why the giant is more likely to stick with its own MagSafe technology in this regard.
