It took an inordinately long time for Apple to pluck up the courage to remove the EarPods from its packaging. He already removed the 7 mm jack connector for the iPhone 7/2016 Plus introduced in 3,5, and instead started adding a Lightning adapter for a while. Only then did he start packing Lightning EarPods directly. But you could have saved this right away. As we can see, the removal of the headphones from the packaging was the least controversial (except for the French market).

Apple got rid of headphones in the package only with the iPhone 12 generation, where it immediately omitted the presence of the power adapter and subsequently did the same for older models. The first AirPods have been with us since 2016, so if he wanted to establish the true wireless future, he didn't have to change the 3,5 mm connector to Lightning in his EarPods at all. But maybe he was just afraid of what the public would say.

But with several other models of AirPods, he finally came to the conclusion that he simply didn't want the wires anymore, so he took them out of the package. He threw away the charger right away with them, and that was perhaps the most controversial mistake. The world was already widely switching to TWS headphones, and no one really missed the wired one, so the main issue was the charger. But if Apple had planned these two steps better, maybe there wouldn't be so much hype around it either. But suddenly it was just too much. Anyway, for that Apple pays even fines and compensation (which is absolutely absurd, why someone can't sell what they want and with any content). What comes next?

iPhone packing lightening

  • Step number 1 + 2: Removing the headphones and power adapter
  • Step number 3: Removing the charging cable
  • Step number 4: Removal of SIM eject tool and booklets

Logically, a USB-C to Lightning cable is offered. What is he actually present for now? If I think that the charger with the cable is present so that I should be able to charge the dead phone immediately after taking it out of the box, I can't do that now anyway, unless I have a computer with USB-C at hand. I don't understand why Apple sticks to the included cable, as well as why it is also found in AirPods, why it is also present in accessories such as keyboards, trackpads and mice.

If its presence makes any sense to you with peripherals, it is completely absent from the iPhone and AirPods, which can be charged wirelessly. So even if the world is in general awareness against slimming the packaging, personally I would be in favor of not even finding the cable in the packaging anymore. The first owner will buy it, which he will also do with the adapter, others already have cables at home. Personally, I have them in every room of the house, cottages and there are a few in the car. They are mostly the original ones, or those bought a year or so ago. And yes, they still hold even when they are not braided.

"Sperhák" and other useless things

If it bothers Apple that it wrapped iPhone boxes in foil, which it subsequently removed and only added two detachable tapes on the bottom, why is it still based on such useless things as the included brochures and stickers? The brochures can be included on the packaging itself, so a QR is enough to redirect to the website. Since the iPhone 3G, I have stuck only one sticker with the bitten apple logo present in the packaging of any Apple device. Even if it's clearly targeted advertising, which costs the company a fortune, it will become more expensive in the millions of pieces. This is another forgettable pointlessness.

A separate chapter could then be a SIM removal tool. First of all, why does Apple still package it in such a form, when a disproportionately cheaper toothpick would suffice? At least for the SE model, he already came with a light version of it, which looks more like a paper clip. After all, it will also serve more than well for these purposes, and it can also be used in other ways than just removing the SIM card drawer. Let's get rid of this nuisance and completely switch to electronic SIM. In this way, we will get rid of other unnecessary things and the planet will be greener again. And that is the long-term goal of all companies. Or is it just idle talk?
