The development company Rovio, which is behind the successful game series Angry Birds, brings another game called Bad Piggies to our mobile devices. This is a completely new game, but with the old familiar pigs from Angry Birds.

Angry Birds have several parts (Seasons, Rio, Space). Each part was successful and sales were (and are) huge. Then Rovio decided to make a puzzle game called Amazing Alex. She wasn't as successful as the birds, but she wasn't a flop either. In Bad Piggies, Finnish developers combine the Angry Birds environment and add logic from Amazing Alex.

At first glance, Bad Piggies look like Angry Birds in a new coat. But don't be fooled, the game is based on a completely different gameplay principle.

The piggies want to take the birds' eggs again and eat them. Since the eggs are far away, Piggy draws a map to find them. However, the clumsy piggy turns on the fan, which tears the map into pieces and it goes flying around the island. This is where you come in.

In each level, a piggy bank awaits you, several parts to build a travel vehicle and a path to the next piece of the lost map. In order to make the trip safely, you must always assemble the machine smartly. You insert individual parts into transparent square "tiles" and are therefore limited by their range. There are several suitable construction parts for each level. Wooden or stone squares serve as the basic structure, to which you connect other elements. It can be several kinds of wheels, bellows for acceleration, dynamite for shooting, fan for air propulsion, balloons for flying, spring for suspension, wheel with drive and many others.

You connect the individual elements to each other appropriately so that they fit. If you want to rotate them, just tap on them. You remove them by moving them away. If the model does not meet your expectations or the requirements of the track, just press the trash can and build from the beginning. Once you have it built, it's time for the next part. This is the very movement to the destination - to the map.

Thought you'd just build a piggy bank and hit "play"? Error. There's more fun. Controlling your evil machine! Depending on the components used, buttons with different functions are available after launching the machine. As you need, you turn on and off the fan that drives the machine, at the same time you can blow into bellows, turn on the wheel drive, pop balloons and last but not least, use cola bottles as a turbo. All this and much more just because of a piece of the map. If you don't know how to use a part, there is a manual that you can call up in each level by tapping on the light bulb.

Map hunting alone probably wouldn't be enough as a game rating, so the creators wisely stuck with a three-star rating. You get one for crossing the finish line, the others for various tasks. There can be several of them. The most common ones are the time limit, picking up the box with the star, not destroying the machine or perhaps not using a certain part during assembly. The score is not played here. And that's a nice difference from Angry Birds. In addition, you don't have to complete all tasks for stars at once, just do one and the others on subsequent attempts. The stars will then be added to you. For a certain number of stars from four consecutive levels, you will get a bonus level. So far, the game contains two levels of 45 levels each and 4 levels of "Sandbox", which is a kind of additional bonus, but very challenging. You get the components for Sandbox during the game and without them it is not possible to finish the level, because it is one long and difficult track. And finally, there is a ready-made box for other levels that will come soon.

The graphic part is at a great level. For the most part, this is the environment from Angry Birds, which is supplemented with new elements. The piggies' in-game animations can sometimes bring a smile to your face, and their joy at getting three stars will make just about anyone smile. The nice graphics are seconded by the real physics known from Angry Birds, which the developers like to brag about. And rightfully so. The music part is pleasant and somewhat reminiscent of Angry Birds. All this is complemented by sounds like laughing and crying pigs, together with shots of dynamite, screeching wheels, foaming cola, etc. I tested the game on a second-generation iPad and was pleasantly surprised by its speed and loading of individual levels compared to Angry Birds. Game Center support is a matter of course.

Overall, Bad Piggies is a great game. The biggest weakness so far is the small number of levels. At Rovia, however, we can safely say that they will increase. Everything is very similar to Angry Birds, but that's not a bad thing. They're actually Angry Birds characters, so that makes sense. Piggies won't put a strain on our wallet, but unfortunately the iPhone and iPad versions are sold separately. You pay 0,79 euros for the one for iPhone and 2,39 euros for the HD version for iPad. The game is better than Amazing Alex in my opinion, but it doesn't seem to beat the legendary angry birds. However, he is well on his way. Bad Piggies are a nice change after the many versions of Angry Birds and definitely worth a try.
