Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen's wildly popular game Flappy Bird will soon end on the App Store and Play Store. Despite the fact that the author has been earning more than a million crowns a day from advertising in recent days, Nguyen decided to withdraw it for personal reasons. He announced this on his Twitter account.

Flappy Birds has become a viral hit, and it is a very simple game in which you and your bird avoid obstacles, all in retro graphics. The biggest motivator, and probably the most addictive element, is the game's difficulty, where it's hard to get at least a double-digit score. Although the game is free, it is monetized through banner advertising, from which the author earns a whopping $50 in just one day. However, Nguen wants to give up the income, which would be a godsend for other developers, or its further growth. According to him, the game destroyed his peaceful life.

He didn't say exactly why he was pulling the game, but he assured on Twitter that it was not about legal issues (the game borrowed some elements from Super Mario) or selling the app. Nor does Nguen want to stop developing games. However, in his words, "he may see Flappy Bird as his own success, it ruined his simple life, so he hates it."

Dong Nguyen appears to be a very modest young man, and apparently his sudden fame and influx of money has brought him more worry than joy. The game should disappear around 6pm today, so if you don't have the game installed, this is your last chance to download it. So that concludes the Flappy Bird story, and we'll have to find another "dummy" game to waste our time on.
