Only last week, one of the most anticipated products, the smart locator, entered the market Air Tag. Although apple lovers express their enthusiasm through social networks, it is not for nothing that they say that all that glitters is not gold. Apple is now starting to face its first problems, specifically in Australia. The seller there has withdrawn AirTags from sale. In any case, we have not yet received an official opinion. But the reason was indirectly confirmed by Reddit users who allegedly know the seller's employees - Apple violates local laws and an easily accessible battery poses a danger to children.

The operation of the new locator pendant is handled by a classic CR2032 button cell battery, and according to various statements, this part of the product is exactly the so-called stumbling block. At first, the apple growers cheered. After a long time, Apple has finally introduced a product with a replaceable battery that anyone can replace at home in an instant. It is only necessary to push into the AirTag and turn it correctly, which will allow us to get under the cover, i.e. directly to the battery. And this is precisely why the Cupertino giant should be breaking Australian laws. According to them, every device with a replaceable battery should be properly secured against its removal, for example by means of a screw or other means.

The Cupertino giant will likely have to deal with this issue and argue to the relevant Australian authority that the AirTag battery is not easily accessible and is therefore not a child endangerment issue. Whether the same situation will repeat itself in other states is still unclear. Currently, we will have to wait for an official statement from both Apple and the Australian seller.
