This week, Apple released iOS 9.3 developer beta. It contains surprisingly many useful innovations, and as developers and journalists gradually test it, they find other minor and major improvements. One of the more significant ones that we haven't told you about yet is enrichment "Wi-Fi Assistant" function o a figure telling how much mobile data has been consumed.

Wi-Fi Assistant appeared in the first version of iOS 9 and met with a mixed response. Some users blamed the function, which switches to the mobile network if the Wi-Fi connection is weak, for exhausting their data limits. In the United States, Apple was even sued for this.

Apple responded to the criticism by explaining the function better and emphasizing that Wi-Fi Assistant's consumption is minimal and is intended to increase comfort when using the phone. "For example, when you're using Safari on a weak Wi-Fi connection and a page won't load, Wi-Fi Assistant will activate and automatically switch to the cellular network to load the page," Apple explained in an official document.

In addition, the company has programmed the Wi-Fi Assistant to not use mobile data for apps running in the background, data-intensive apps such as apps streaming music or video, and when data roaming is turned on.

However, these measures probably did not reassure all users enough, and Apple is therefore introducing another novelty in the form of data on the consumption of mobile data in order to definitively dispel the concerns of users.
