Apple offers an extensive portfolio of products and services. Of course, iPhones attract the most attention every year, but the services segment is also gradually becoming more popular. From the financial results of the apple company, it is evident that services are becoming more and more important and thus generate more and more income. When it comes to Apple services, most Apple users think of iCloud+, Apple Music, TV+ and the like. But then there is another very important representative in the form of AppleCare+, which we could call one of the most interesting services from Apple.
What is AppleCare+
First of all, let's shed some light on what it actually is. AppleCare+ is an extended warranty provided directly by Apple, which significantly expands the options for users of iPhones, iPads, Macs and other devices in the event of damage to their apple. So, should the worst happen, for example, if the iPhone is damaged due to a fall, then AppleCare+ subscribers are entitled to a number of benefits, thanks to which they can repair or replace the device at a significantly reduced price. By purchasing this service, apple growers can, in a certain sense, insure themselves that they will not be left without equipment if necessary and that they will have an adequate and very cost-effective solution at their disposal.
As we mentioned in the paragraph above, AppleCare+ is an extended warranty. At the same time, we come to another point in the form of a comparison with the traditional 24-month warranty that sellers must provide when selling new products within the European Union countries. If we were to buy a new iPhone, we have a 2-year warranty provided by the seller, which solves possible hardware errors. If, for example, the motherboard fails within this period of time after purchase, you just need to bring the device together with the receipt to the seller and they should solve the problem for you - arrange for the device to be repaired or replaced. However, it is necessary to draw attention to a very fundamental thing. The standard warranty only covers manufacturing issues. If, for example, your iPhone falls to the ground and the display is damaged, you are not entitled to the warranty.
What AppleCare+ covers
On the contrary, AppleCare+ goes a few steps further and brings solid solutions to many problems. This extended warranty from Apple brings a lot of benefits and covers a series of different situations, including the possible drowning of the phone, which is not even covered by the normal warranty (even though iPhones are waterproof from the factory). Apple users with AppleCare+ are also entitled to immediate service and support, no matter where they are. It is enough to visit an authorized dealer or service. The service also includes free shipping during advertising, repair and replacement of accessories in the form of a power adapter, cable and others, free replacement of the battery if its capacity drops below 80%, and possibly also coverage of two incidents of accidental damage. In the same way, this extended warranty can save you in case of device loss or theft. In this case, however, it is not traditional AppleCare+, but a more expensive option that also includes these two cases.
For a service fee, users are entitled to repair a damaged display for €29 and for other damage for €99. Likewise, we must not forget to mention priority access to Apple experts or professional help with hardware and software. Prices are given for European countries. An important question is also how much AppleCare+ actually costs.
As we mentioned above, this is an additional service, the price of which depends on the specific device. For example, three-year Mac coverage will cost you from €299, two-year iPhone coverage from €89 or two-year Apple Watch coverage from €69. Of course, it also depends on the specific model – while AppleCare+ for 2 years for the iPhone SE (3rd generation) costs €89, two-year AppleCare+ coverage including protection against theft and loss for the iPhone 14 Pro Max is €309.
Availability in the Czech Republic
Czech apple buyers often don't even know about the AppleCare+ service, for a relatively simple reason. Unfortunately, the service is not officially available here. Under normal circumstances, an Apple user can arrange and purchase AppleCare+ within 60 days of purchasing their device at the latest. Undoubtedly, the easiest way is to visit the official Apple Store, but of course there is also the possibility to solve everything from the comfort of your home online. However, as we have already mentioned, the service is not available here and in other countries around the world. Would you welcome AppleCare+ in the Czech Republic, or would you purchase this service, or do you find it unnecessary or overpriced?
I would definitely buy it for my phone and watch. Almost certainly not on a Mac or iPad.
I can arrange Applecare for you remotely. I made it myself on an iPhone and a watch. Then write to me: swagopetuderi@gmail.com
Are you sure about the 24 month EU standard warranty? I think this no longer applies. I had a 12 month warranty on my iPhone.
Within the countries of the European Union, there is at least a two-year warranty on new goods, which covers the consumer in cases of defective goods, or even those that do not look/function as advertised. You can find it in more detail on the official EU website: https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/dealing-with-customers/consumer-contracts-guarantees/consumer-guarantees/index_cs.htm Some states may even offer a longer warranty by law, but in general, those 2 years are the minimum within the EU.
If you only had a one-year warranty on your iPhone, then that means you were probably getting a used/refurbished device. A 24-month warranty is also standard for used goods, but the law allows it to be shortened to 12 months if the seller and the buyer agree. However, the shortening of the period must be indicated in the proof of purchase. You can find more details on the website of the Czech Trade Inspection: https://www.coi.cz/faq/3-odpovida-prodavajici-i-za-vady-pouziteho-zbozi/
A one-year guarantee is also available to those who purchase with an IČO as an entrepreneur.
Only the final consumer (natural person) has a two-year warranty by law.
Because you wanted to leave DPHacko and bought on IC. Then the 2-year warranty does not apply to you.
AC+ can be set up via https://www.applecare.cz/
Although it is a matter of community support in CZ, they resolved it promptly even on Saturday afternoon. I sent money to the gentleman's account, within ten minutes I had AC+ active on the new MBProM2. Although I was afraid to send money to a stranger, I risked it and everything was handled to my complete satisfaction.
Hereby, I am not advertising the mentioned website, I am just sharing my experience with potential applicants for AppleCare in the Czech Republic.
Apple care can be purchased online via the Offiko website. But it is necessary to have an American card. You can even fill in the USA, a country that does not have VAT. And have it cheaper. The statescard website can be used for a US card
I arranged Apple Care myself for my device remotely. If anyone is interested, feel free to write to me and I will arrange it for you: swagopetuderi@gmail.com
I have an Apple Watch Ultra and the glass cracked, and suddenly such a service would be useful, because the repair is not possible, so 25 thousand flew out the window after a month.
