One of the first apps to use the capabilities and potential of the Notification Center widget in iOS 8 was Launcher. It was an application that made it possible to place shortcuts for quick actions in the Notification Center, such as launching a specific application or dialing a default contact.

At that time, Apple let the application go through the approval process and allowed it to exist in the App Store for more than a week. However, then in Cupertino they issued a decision to withdraw the application from the store, because the widget allegedly did not behave in accordance with the relevant rules. Since then, Apple has been just as confused with other applications.

An example can be, for example, the popular calculator PCalc, which learned to calculate directly in the Notification Center, but after a few days Apple forced its developer remove the action widget from the application. The move was justified by the use of a widget that was against the rules. But Apple has its own he reversed the decision relatively soon, when a wave of outrage swept across the Internet. The PCalc calculator is now also a widget in the App Store.

Probably also because of this instability of Apple's attitudes, the developer of the application Launcher Greg Gardner did not give up and constantly sent his handy tool in modified forms to Apple for approval. His efforts paid off for the first time earlier this month, when Apple approved a stripped-down version of the app that could only configure shortcuts to make a phone call, write an email, write a message and start a FaceTime call.

So Gardner sent an inquiry to Apple asking why the application was approved in this form and Launcher not in the original version. So Apple reviewed the original application and decided that even in this form it is now acceptable.

According to Gardner, he did not have to make any changes to the original application and it was still approved. Apple is said to have informed him that the company tends to be more restrained and conservative when launching a new function. However, with the passage of time, the strict restrictions and rules are sometimes relaxed.

Launcher has therefore already returned to the App Store in its original form and is available for download worldwide. Users can download the app and set up shortcuts that they will be able to access when they download the Notification Center roller. The available shortcuts are divided into four sections for simplicity, including Contact Launcher, Web Launcher, App Launcher and Custom Launcher.

The Contact Laucher section offers shortcuts to quickly dial default contacts, write an email, start a FaceTime call, write a message or start navigation to a specific location. Web Launcher offers the ability to create a shortcut with a specific URL address, and App Launcher brings the ability to quickly launch a specific application. This feature works with system apps as well as those from third-party developers. Custom Launcher offers, as the name suggests, user-created shortcuts for working with installed applications or shortcuts based on the URL scheme.

Reborn Launcher compared to its original version, it also brings some user-requested news. Among them, we can find the option to make the icons smaller or hide their labels so that the shortcuts fit better into the Notification Center environment.

The app is in the App Store Free Download. The professional version can then be purchased via in-app purchase for less than €4.
