There has been quite an interesting dispute between Apple and Epic Games for a long time. Epic Games directly violated the terms of the App Store when it added its own payment method to its Fortnite game. Immediately after that, the app was downloaded from the store, which then started huge disputes. But let's leave this lengthy process aside for now. It is essential to know that the Fortnite game has not yet returned, and apple users do not have the opportunity to play it. At least not in the traditional way.

Epic Games teamed up with the giant Microsoft and together they came up with a great way to get around the whole thing. Under Microsoft, respectively under Xbox, comes the cloud gaming service xCloud, with the help of which you can play popular AAA games from anywhere - for example, from a computer, Mac or even a phone. All you need is a gamepad and a stable internet connection. To use the service, however, it is necessary to pay a subscription of 339 crowns per month. Fortnite returns to iOS in exactly this way, or rather with the help of Microsoft and its service. But as we already mentioned, you need a game controller to play within xCloud. And it is precisely in this direction that we encounter a huge change here. The popular game from Epic Games was prepared in such a way that apart from the classic controller, it can also be played through the touch interface, or exactly as before.

In this context, we can come across one more point of interest. Microsoft was obviously happy to lend a helping hand to Epic Games, as you don't even have to pay the aforementioned subscription of 339 CZK to play Fortnite. You can play straight away for free. The only condition is to have a Microsoft account, which of course you can create in a moment. But how is it possible that Apple doesn't have the ability to block entire game streaming services? They do not run through a separate application, which is against the rules of the App Store, by the way, but through the web, which Apple simply does not do.

Apple is losing power over its competition

Come to think of it, in theory, other developers behind popular mobile games may also decide to take similar steps. A great example in this direction could be a title Call of Duty: Mobile by Activision Blizzard. The giant Microsoft is planning to buy the entire studio, thereby acquiring all the titles with which it can enrich the xCloud library. Even without the App Store, players will have the opportunity to play their favorite game, theoretically still for free. In addition, if companies like Epic Games and Microsoft were able to come to an agreement, it is logically possible that other developers would also reach the same agreement. In this respect, Apple is literally defenseless and has no means to enforce any rules.

On the other hand, this certainly does not mean that games from the App Store will now disappear en masse. Definitely not. Even the company Epic Games itself previously decided on a rather bold step, when it clearly counted on all the consequences, including the removal of its most popular game. They had everything prepared in advance, because immediately after the aforementioned removal from the App Store, a large-scale campaign against Apple, its monopolistic behavior and fees in the Apple app store started. Such disputes require a lot of energy, determination, and above all, finances. And that is precisely why it is rather unlikely that others would embark on something similar. In any case, if so, then it is more or less clear that this would not be an unsolvable problem. It could easily be bypassed.
