Today's presentation is not only followed by enthusiasm for the newly introduced products, but also by disappointment at the price increase in the Czech Apple Store. In the official online store, we will now pay extra for iPhone and portable MacBook computers.
For the 16GB version of the iPhone 6, you would pay CZK 18 on Monday morning, and by the evening you would have to prepare CZK 390. Even the higher capacities of the smaller iPhone have risen in price by approximately three thousand crowns, and the increase in the iPhone 21 Plus model is up to four thousand. The Czech Apple now claims 190 CZK for the highest model.
We also have to dig deeper into our pockets when buying Macs, specifically MacBook laptops. For those, the change in price is at least partly justified by a slight hardware update. The new models will offer faster chips and some also a new type of touchpad with Force Touch technology. You can learn more about the price increase of MacBooks in separate post.
It should be noted that Apple is not behind the price increase, but mainly the weakening koruna and, on the contrary, the ever-increasing exchange rate against the dollar and the euro. The main factor in these changes is the intervention of the Czech National Bank, and they may be reflected in other products in the future, not just those from Apple.
If the file is not USD/CZK exchange rate, hmm? ;)
Which is just the exact equivalent of USD/EUR…and the ECB and QE are to blame for this move
Damn, I didn't read the last paragraph..
It's probably due to the USD/EU exchange rate, because the price of a new MacBook in the German Apple Store is 1450 EU, which basically corresponds to 40K in our country
It's not by chance because it costs $1299 in the US store.
1300 US Dollar equals 1204.85 Euro says google at the current exchange rate.
And it costs €1499 at the German Applestore
These are no longer prices for people, but for apple fanatics. I have no say.
It's quite logical.
USA vs EU
– two-year warranty (in the USA they have a one-year warranty, the two-year warranty is only for an additional fee – we all pay for it in Europe)
– the price is shown with VAT
– moving rate
EU vs CR
– in the Czech Republic, in addition, the CNB artificially keeps the koruna so that both the dollar and the euro are expensive. This must be signed.
Apple is gradually adjusting that course.
Let's do some basic math - $649 is the iPhone 6 16GB in the US
Annual warranty costs +$99
=> 748
A dollar can be bought from the crown for 25,5 CZK, but let's calculate the middle 25 CZK -> 748*25=18
In the Czech Republic, however, the price includes VAT, which is currently 21%. 18700*1,21 = CZK 22
That's how much the iPhone should cost in the Czech Republic, so that it costs the same as in the USA. Wait, here it is actually cheaper than in the USA - it "only" costs a little over 21000.. :-)))
According to your logic, maybe Apple still subsidizes it :P For years, a simple dollar = euro conversion has been used for hardware. And on the German Apple store, for example, there is an iPhone 6 for 700 euros, which is 19 thousand and some change, so the Czech price of 21 thousand is a thief of the worst kind, and the excuses about the exchange rate are ridiculous, because the crown is linked to the euro.
VAT + 21% where do you have it?
The price for another market is not equal to the US price plus VAT, this is a complete misconception. Our market is essentially identical to the German one, therefore the difference of two thousand is completely inexplicable and inexcusable.
It's still a very decent price, I would easily pay twice as much, Apple makes quality products and quality costs something...
George, you amused me :) it will only force people to buy apple products in the USA.
For some reason the iPod shuffle went from 1290 to 1590 (2 GB of storage) and for example, a two-pack of iPod shuffle cables went from 469 to 579
And that's the way it should be, it's a quality Apple product, and quality and brand are worth something...
At least the older ip6 will sell better for me, well :-)
After 4 years, the time has probably come to try other brands, where their system has actually moved. In truth, I'm not even worried about the current price, but the price in two years when the replacement is planned. I've somehow gotten used to the fact that the new model is more expensive, but that the existing one will also become more expensive, that's probably too much for me.
Criticism of CNB interventions is quite out of place in connection with the latest price increase, this is purely a problem of the ECB and the fall of the EUR against the USD. Except for a short fluctuation at the beginning of the year, the koruna is getting stronger against the euro, it is actually currently the strongest since the stabilization of the exchange rate after the devaluation at the end of 2013. However, the fall of the euro is sad...
A thousand heads, a thousand opinions, but in my opinion, not one of you is the right one, which of you knows the top marketing of a global company, which of you knows the financial management of the state and setting rates for various aspects of business transactions and their implementation on the European market. In my opinion, we have no choice but to admit it and pay more.
You don't need to know anything about it, it's just a matter of picking what you can. Just like with gasoline, when when the price drops, the gas pumps still run for a month from "reserves of expensive gasoline", and when the price rises, the reserves mysteriously do not exist. We are in capitalism, it works the same everywhere.
I would say that they blew the whistle with the increase in the price of the iPhone.. On the German Appstore, the basic price is still EUR 699.. Converted at the exchange rate of 27,8 CZK to EUR (foreign currency sale = cashless payment), it comes to 19 CZK, which is still under 432 .. The Czech representation is a bit unsatisfying.. :-(
And where do you get the 21% VAT for that?
Do you mean VAT when compared to the EU single market of which we and Germany are members? Lol
