Today, Fast Company released its list of the world's most innovative companies for 2019. There were a few surprising changes to the list from last year - one of which is the fact that Apple, which easily topped the list last year, has fallen to seventeenth place.
The first place in the ranking of the most innovative companies for this year was occupied by Meituan Dianping. It is a Chinese technology platform dealing with booking and providing services in the field of hospitality, culture and gastronomy. Grab, Walt Disney, Stitch Fix and the national basketball league NBA also occupied the first five places. Apple was overtaken in the rankings by Square, Twitch, Shopify, Peloton, Alibaba, Truepic and a handful of others.
Among the reasons Fast Company honored Apple last year were AirPods, support for augmented reality and the iPhone X. This year, Apple was recognized for its A12 Bionic processor in the iPhone XS and XR.
“Apple's most impressive new product of 2018 wasn't a phone or tablet, but the A12 Bionic chip. It made its debut in last fall's iPhones and is the first processor based on the 7nm manufacturing process." states in its statement Fast Company, and further highlights the advantages of the chip, such as speed, performance, lower power consumption and enough power for applications using artificial intelligence or augmented reality.
Falling to seventeenth place is really significant for Apple, but Fast Company's ranking is somewhat subjective and serves rather as an interesting insight into what makes individual companies considered innovative. You can find the complete list at Fast Company website.
With their attitude in recent years, I'm surprised they haven't fallen even lower, everything is taking so long for them.
There is nothing to be surprised about, just wonder what the new Samsung offers for my money.
The truth is Samsung is so innovative that it didn't even fit into the table....
It's true and Apple is there for the plastic Airpods or the dugout iPhone X. At the time it was released, it was a generation ahead of the competition. So I'll probably take it with a grain of salt. Apple still hasn't recovered from yesterday's humiliation when Samsung kicked its ass. And in a few days he will still be kicked by Huawei and Xiaomi? Now iPhones look like a Trabant next to a rocket plane. Both for the same money.
I don't know, the headline sounds disastrous - but I'm not sure if the NBA, Meituan, Walt Disney are the right competitors.
To make it sound "fair", how about writing in the table where the direct competitors are???
I don't see ANYONE there - it must be way back
49- Mozilla
WHERE is Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Meizu, LG and others ??????
Today we were just talking about it with an acquaintance, that it seems to me that history is repeating itself, when there was no Apple Jobs and only what was sold was tested and guaranteed. As if FaceID remained as a project in progress after Jobs and otherwise nothing new. Others are trying flexible displays, etc., and so far there are reports from Apple that the new macbook will be the same just 16″ or that the ipod will return, but as a gaming device. Who knows, maybe he will surprise you.
