Apple will soon start producing AirPods in Vietnam, according to available reports. The move is one of many the Cupertino company is trying to circumvent tariffs imposed on goods made in China. Apple makes no secret of its efforts to gradually shift production to countries outside of China - by expanding production to other countries, it primarily wants to reduce the mentioned costs related to the import of goods from this country.

According to the Nikkei Asian Review, the first test round of production of Apple's wireless headphones will take place at a branch of the Chinese company GoerTek located in northern Vietnam. Sources familiar with the situation said that Apple has asked component suppliers to support GoerTek in its efforts by maintaining the price level. The initial production will not be voluminous, after increasing the capacity, the prices may of course change depending on the sources.

However, this is not the first case of production of Apple headphones in Vietnam - previously, for example, wired EarPods were produced here. However, AirPods have been manufactured exclusively in China until now. Analysts specializing in the supply chains of major technology companies say that the current reduction in production volume in China is a sensitive issue for both Apple and its suppliers.

But Apple is not the only company that is starting to look at places other than China to manufacture its devices. One of the possibilities is the aforementioned Vietnam, but it has a significantly smaller population than China, and a labor shortage could easily occur. From a long-term perspective, Vietnam does not appear to be very ideal. Apple has already moved part of the production from India, but the new Mac Pro, for example, will compared to its predecessors marked "Assembled in China".
