Dan Pražák Speculation have finally turned into reality. Today, Apple started selling the long-awaited Smart Battery Case for the iPhone XS, XS Max a XR. The often-criticized hump remained on the charging case with the battery, but it now boasts a revised design and, above all, support for wireless charging. The price of the accessory rose to 3 CZK and is available in black and white for each model.
Along with the new version of the Smart Battery Case came a slightly modified appearance that is directly adapted to the latest iPhones. The raised battery now extends to the bottom edge of the package. The lower part hiding the necessary electronics and, above all, the vents for the speakers, also disappeared. After all, those are the ones missing in the new version, and Apple probably relies only on the second speaker above the display.
The Lightning port has been retained. However, the new Battery Case supports wireless charging through Qi-certified pads (just like the iPhone). Also new is compatibility with USB-PD chargers, thanks to which the case supports fast charging - whether as fast as the iPhone (to 50% in 30 minutes), but it remains a question for now. The Lightning port also supports all kinds of accessories, including EarPods or a Lightning/3,5mm jack adapter.
With the arrival of the new Smart Battery Case, Apple is offering its charging case for the larger iPhone model for the first time ever. Until now, the aforementioned accessories remained the privilege of only 4,7-inch iPhones. The iPhone XS Max thus gets a respectable durability with the case, and the iPhone XR is even better after using the Smart Battery Case with durability.
