There are currently a number of different reductions for iPhone and iPad. Now they are joined by one of the most interesting and at the same time the most expensive. We are talking about an Ethernet + Power adapter with a Lightning connector from Belkin. It cannot be said that it is a reduction for everyone, but it could be useful for many people.

With the new adapter from Belkin, it is possible to connect the iPhone or iPad to the Internet via a cable, i.e. via Ethernet. In the case of the iPhone, the use would really only be found sporadically, but with iPads it can be meaningful for many, especially when Apple has recently been trying to present its tablets as a replacement for computers. However, the adapter will find application mainly in the corporate environment.

Thanks to the reduction, you get a stable, fast and secure connection. Speeds in most cases will be higher than when using a wireless network, because there are losses when the signal is transmitted through the air. However, it always depends on other circumstances, such as the speed of the available connection, the distance or the quality of the router. The adapter will also serve well in places where Wi-Fi is not available, which may be some company networks, which are designed this way mainly for higher security.

It was still possible to connect an Ethernet cable to an iPhone or iPad, but it was necessary to use several adapters. In addition, the new adapter from Belkin supports power over Ethernet (PoE - Power over Ethernet). Thanks to this, iOS devices can be charged via an Ethernet cable (up to 12 W) and no additional power source is needed. However, the network must support PoE. Otherwise, you can connect the Lightning cable to the adapter and charge the device in the classic way.

Belkin Ethernet + Power is compatible with all iPhones from the 7 Plus model, iPads from the 5th generation and iPad Pro with a Lightning connector. The firmware of the adapter can be updated through the application Belkin Connect, which ensures full support from all future iOS versions as well. The reduction can be purchased directly on Apple's website. In the Czech Republic, it costs 2 crowns.
