In the smart watch market, Apple is considered the imaginary king with its Apple Watch, which offers a number of advanced technologies in a small body. Probably the vast majority of Apple watch users will even tell you that they wouldn't want to be without it. There is nothing to be surprised about. As such, the product acts as an extended arm of the phone, where it can show you all kinds of notifications, track your health, automatically call for help in case of emergency, monitor physical activities and sleep, while everything runs perfectly smoothly and without any hiccups. However, the biggest problem lies in the battery.
From the very first Apple Watch model, Apple promises 18 hours of battery life on a single charge. But let's pour some pure wine - is that enough for us? If we squint both eyes, we can of course live with this kind of stamina. But from the position of a long-term user, I have to admit that this lack often worries me. For this reason, Apple users are forced to charge their watches every day, which, for example, can make life uncomfortable on vacation or a multi-day trip. Of course, cheap competing watches, on the other hand, offer a battery life of up to several days, but in this case it is necessary to take into account that these models do not offer such functions, a high-quality display and the like. That is why they can offer significantly more. On the other hand, a close competitor for the Apple Watch is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, which lasts around 40 hours.
If the iPhone, why not the Apple Watch?
It is all the more interesting if we look at the battery situation in the case of the Apple Watch and compare it to another Apple product that is directly linked to the watch - the iPhone. While iPhones and smartphones in general try to improve their battery life every year, and this is often one of the main points when introducing new models, unfortunately the same cannot be said about smartwatches.
When we mentioned a little earlier that the Apple Watch offers 18 hours of battery life, unfortunately this does not mean that it will really last you that long every day. For example, the Apple Watch Series 7 in the Cellular version can only handle a call of up to 1,5 hours when connected via LTE. When we add to this, for example, playing music, monitoring training and the like, the time is reduced even more, which already seems quite catastrophic. Of course, it's clear that you won't get into similar situations very often with the product as such, but it's still worth considering.
The main problem probably lies in the batteries - their development has not exactly shifted twice in recent years. If manufacturers want to extend the life of their devices, they practically have two options. The first is better optimization in cooperation with the operating system, while the second is a bet on a larger battery, which will naturally affect the weight and size of the device itself.
Apple Watch Series 8 and better battery life
If Apple really wants to surprise its fans and give them something that will really please them, then in the case of this year's expected Apple Watch Series 8, it should definitely come with better battery life. In connection with the expected model, the arrival of some new health sensors and functions is often mentioned. Moreover, according to the latest information from the well-known analyst and editor Mark Gurman, nothing similar will come yet. Apple does not have time to complete the necessary technologies in time, which is why we will probably have to wait for this news for another Friday. The Apple Watch generally doesn't come with breathtaking changes year after year, so it would make sense if we got a big surprise in the form of improved endurance this year.
How do you view the durability of the Apple Watch? Do you think it is sufficient, or would you welcome some improvement, or how many hours of endurance would be optimal in your opinion?
Garmin Fenix 6 and I am satisfied. Although I have an iPhone, the Apple Watch is like a trinket for children. Nothing wrong.
Fénix won't last much longer, only a ridiculous 36 hectares in addition, they look disgusting, like some 70's piece of junk from the Vietnamese :(
AWs look better than those nasty onions… GRC
36h??? You've obviously never had Fenix, it lasts 12 days with normal use. And as for the looks, it's subjective, but definitely, I like it better than the AW, and not to mention the durability, the AW can't compare at all. In addition, for example, the new Venu 2 can already make calls and the battery life is also longer. As much as Apple wants to be CO2 neutral, AW's daily charging doesn't do much for it.
Perhaps they will use a square design, the 7-year-old one has already looked and the endurance could also be improved + solar for the display and it would be OK.
The only "competitor" is FitBit with 6-day endurance. I had some early version, but the AWs were several LVLs higher in "everything" except stamina, they lasted me 7 days of normal use. Maybe the new version has already been picked up, but as an iOvce I chose the tragic AW... a lot, maybe 8mičky will be better in this! They could easily enlarge the body by approx. 4-8 mm and it would still be possible....
You chose a tragic AW. Your Czech is tragic.
I have an apple watch 7, after pacifying all unnecessary notifications and setting my watch face, the battery is still above 24% after 30 hours. But yes, if they lasted a week, it would be much better.
I am completely satisfied when I cycle from Brno to Prague and back for an activity and it eats up about 30 percent, so I have about 70 percent left and the driving time was 6 hours there and back, so my apple watch is not affected.
