Díky built-in sensors Apple Watch can measure heart rate very easily. After release of the first software update, which was mainly about bug fixes and performance improvements, but users began to complain that their heart rate stopped being measured regularly. Apple has now explained everything.
Originally, the Apple Watch measured the heart rate every 10 minutes, so the user always had an overview of the current values. But since Watch OS 1.0.1, the measurement has become much less regular. Apple eventually quietly updated your document, in which he explains why this happened.
"Apple Watch tries to measure your heart rate every 10 minutes, but it won't record it if you're moving or your hand is moving," Apple writes about the heart rate measurement. Originally, such a thing was not mentioned at all, and in Cupertino they evidently added this condition along the way.
Now Apple presents this irregular measurement as a feature, not as a bug, so we can only assume that this was done to make the measurement results as accurate as possible and not be influenced by various external influences. Some also speculate that Apple turned off the regular ten-minute check to save battery.
But for users who, for various reasons, relied on continuous heart rate measurement, this is not very pleasing news. The only option now is to turn on the Workout application, which can measure the heart rate continuously.
Hmmm, interesting. It is a fact that the accuracy will probably increase, after the experience with the FitBit surge, I can say that the heart rate of 150 was showing as 110 (regardless of how far I had it from the wrist bone), but I'm kind of curious how the watch will be " predict" heart attack (http://www.cultofmac.com/322011/how-apple-watch-could-one-day-predict-heart-attacks/)

a great thing that works only if... the salt water technology just doesn't measure it correctly, like a sports watch, at the earliest in version 3.
If I sweat even a little during sports, the Apple watch shows me completely meaningless heart rate values. Fortunately, it can communicate with the Wahoo chest sensor, so that's what I'm dealing with.
So it doesn't really matter to me. I'm sticking with Fitbit.
So it's useless for sports. The only thing I would want it for is heart rate monitoring during sports.
