On the occasion of the traditional September keynote, which Apple traditionally dedicates to new iPhones and Apple Watches, this year the giant surprised us with a brand new Apple Watch Ultra watch. This is the best of the best that you can buy right now. This apple watch targets the most demanding users and sports enthusiasts who cannot do without a quality partner during their activities. This is exactly what this model is designed for - for demanding conditions, for adrenaline sports and simply for sports that you are serious about.

For these reasons, it is logical why the Apple Watch Ultra is equipped with exactly the sensors and functions they offer. However, their durability is also very important. As we already mentioned in the introduction, these watches are intended for the most demanding users, in the most demanding conditions. That is precisely why it must also meet higher demands for durability. Apple has finally pulled out in this regard and brought the first Apple Watch that finally meets the MIL-STD 810H military standard. But what does this standard determine and why is it good to have it? This is exactly what we are going to shed light on together now.

MIL-STD 810H military standard

The US Department of Defense stands behind the military standard MIL-STD 810H, when it originally serves to test military equipment in various conditions that it may find itself in throughout its lifetime. Despite the fact that it is originally a military standard used for testing army equipment, it is still used in the commercial sphere for so-called durable products - most often for smart watches and bracelets or phones. Therefore, if we are looking for a truly durable product, then compliance with the MIL-STD 810H standard is practically mandatory.

At the same time, it is necessary to properly focus on the designation of the standard itself. MIL-STD 810 is commonly mentioned, which can be seen as a kind of foundation, under which several versions still fall. They differ from each other according to the last letter and can thus be MIL-STD 810A, MIL-STD 810B, MIL-STD 810C and so on. So Apple specifically offers MIL-STD 810H. According to this particular standard, the Apple Watch Ultra must withstand higher altitudes, high and low temperatures, thermal shocks, immersion, freezing and re-freezing, impacts and vibrations. It is precisely for these cases that Apple tested its watch to meet the MIL-STD 810H standard.

Apple Watch Ultra and durability

The Apple Watch Ultra will enter the market on September 23, 2022. But it is already clear that Apple has literally hit the nail on the head with this product. If you would currently like to pre-order the watch in the official Apple Store Online, you will not receive it until the end of October. So the waiting time was really long, which clearly speaks of their popularity and sales. According to the apple company, it should be the most durable apple watch to date, which can easily cope with practically any situation - for example, diving.

More details on durability, functionality and overall how the watch fares in the real world will be revealed soon after the first lucky few receive the product. By all accounts, we definitely have something to look forward to. Are you considering the purchase of an Apple Watch Ultra, or can you make do with models like the Series 8 or SE 2?
