Apple Watch has always been available in two sizes since its initial introduction. Even with the Series 4 model, Apple users could choose between a model with a 38mm or 42mm case. Since then we have seen two more changes, when the Series 5 and 6 models were available with a 40mm and 44mm case, while the current Series 7 moved forward again, this time by one millimeter. But an interesting question arises. Are two variants actually sufficient, or would it be worth adding a third option?

Apple itself has probably been puzzling over the same question for a long time. After all, this was indicated by the well-known display analyst Ross Young, who, by the way, was able to accurately predict interesting news about the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series in the past. He wrote on his Twitter that we should not be surprised if Apple presents the Apple Watch Series 8 in three sizes next year. Moreover, since this is a relatively accurate source, a similar change cannot be completely ruled out. But even in this direction, it is unclear whether the third size would represent the largest or smallest Apple Watch to date.

Does such a change make sense?

There is no clear answer to the question of whether such a change makes sense. If it should be a magnification above 45 mm, then the answer is relatively clear. It would probably be too big a watch, the sales of which would be minimal. After all, even the users themselves agree on this. In any case, it could be more interesting in the opposite case, i.e. if an Apple Watch would be presented, which would also be available in a size below 41 mm (the current smallest variant).

Among other things, a number of Apple users expressed their opinion that even the 40 mm case for the Apple Watch Series 5 & 6 is too big for them, especially for people with smaller wrists. Thus, Apple could solve this problem rather elegantly by introducing a new size. Even in this case, however, we theoretically encounter the same problem as if the Apple Watch were, on the other hand, larger – it is not clear whether there would be enough interest in a similar product.
