After a detailed analysis of the new iPhone XS and XS Max, which was provided to us by servers such as iFixit and others, today detailed information including images about another new product that Apple presented at the September keynote – the Apple Watch Series 4 appeared on the website. iFixit and took a look at what's inside. There are quite a few changes, some more surprising, some less so.

iFixit technicians had at their disposal a 44 millimeter LTE version of the Space Gray watch. One of the most noticeable changes compared to previous generations is the alleged "cleaner" engineering. The new Series 4 is said to be much better and clearly put together than their predecessors. In the first models, Apple used glues and other adhesive elements to a greater extent to hold the internal components together. In Series 4, the internal layout of components is significantly better resolved and looks much more elegant. That is, exactly as it used to be with Apple products in the past.

As for the individual components, the battery grew by a negligible 4% from 279 mAh to just under 292 mAh. The Taptic Engine is slightly redesigned, but it still takes up a lot of internal space that could otherwise be used for battery needs. The barometric sensor has been moved closer to the perforations for the speaker, presumably to better sense atmospheric pressure. The display of the watch is not only bigger, but also thinner, freeing up more space for other components inside.

In terms of repairability, iFixit rated the new Series 4 6 points out of 10, saying that the complexity of eventual disassembly and repair is close to current iPhones. The biggest obstacle is still the glued display. After that, disassembly into individual components is easier than it was with previous generations.
