During a detailed examination of the new app store, one inquisitive user managed to come across the not-yet-released Sleep app. As the name suggests, it is used to measure sleep on the Apple Watch.

Reader MacRumors Daniel Marcinkowski revealed Apple's yet-to-be-released Sleep app for watchOS. He came across it in the pre-installed software links in the App Store for watchOS. In addition to the name of the app, there is also a screenshot and caption "set your convenience store and wake up with the Sleep app."

The same functionality is already included in iOS, where you can find it in the Clock application and the Večerka tab, or the Alarm Clock.

In the current build of watchOS 6.0.1 even in the watchOS 6.1 beta, there are no source code references to this new app. However, the internal build of iOS 13 available from Apple contains the reference.

The new Sleep application should reveal to users the progress and quality of their sleep. In addition, it will contain a notification about the convenience store and will also monitor the lack of battery. According to current data, users will not be able to track sleep if the watch's battery is below 30%.

A new watch face may also come with the Sleep app

Apple internally refers to sleep tracking with the string "Time in Bed tracking" currently found in an internal build of iOS 13. Another string of information suggests that "you can also track your sleep and wake up silently with your Watch in bed" (you can also track your sleep and get woken up silently by wearing your watch to bed).

It is likely that after the release of the Sleep app, it will also get an appropriate complication or the entire watch face, at least according to the references in the iOS 13 code.

Analyst Mark Gurman was the first to point out that Apple is testing sleep tracking internally. However, we did not get to see the launch of the function at the keynote, and the information now speaks only of the beginning of 2020. That is, on the assumption that the measurement turns out according to Apple's expectations.
