Analysis company Strategy Analytics she published information on how Apple fared in Q3 in the smartwatch market. The trend is still the same, for several quarters in a row - Apple Watch is doing very well and sales are constantly growing.

During the period July to September 2019, Apple sold approximately 6,8 million Apple Watches worldwide across the generations sold. If we take this figure - which in practice may be slightly different, as Apple does not disclose specific sales volume - as correct, Apple Watch sales have reached a year-over-year sales increase of more than 50%. Around 4,5 million watches were sold during the same period last year.

In terms of the volume of units sold, Apple still maintains a huge lead over the competition, which means a current 48% market share (year-on-year increase of 3%). Every second smartwatch sold worldwide is from Apple.

The closest rival is the second-placed Samsung, which sold less than 2 million smart watches in the third quarter of this year, and in terms of market share holds roughly 13,4%. In third place is the company Fitbit, which was the subject a few days ago acquisition by Google. Fitbit sold "only" 3 million smartwatches in Q2019 1,6, and the company holds roughly 11% market share.

Overall, the segment as such grew by more than 40% year-on-year and continues to prove to be the fastest growing segment in personal electronics. This trend should not change in the coming periods, and the spread of the so-called smart watch should continue to grow rapidly. New models are getting better and more sophisticated, and even those who were initially skeptical of this segment started to buy smart watches.
