At the end of last year, rather disturbing news surfaced. Apple was banned from selling older iPhones on the German market, specifically the 7, 7 Plus, 8 and 8 Plus models. The ban was specifically taken care of by the manufacturer of mobile chips Qualcomm, which sued the Californian company for patent infringement. The German court then ruled in favor of Qualcomm, and Apple had to withdraw the mentioned models from the offer.

Apple understandably does not want to lose such a huge market and is preparing an answer. New FOSS patents according to German website WinFuture they say that Apple will introduce modified models of the iPhone 7 and 8, which it will also be able to sell in our neighbors. The news should appear on the shelves in four weeks.

German retailers have reportedly already received a list of the designations of all the models that Apple plans to start offering again in Germany. The model MN482ZD/A refers to the modified iPhone 7 Plus 128GB and the model MQK2ZD/A refers to the iPhone 8 64GB.

This is not the first time that Qualcomm has sued Apple for infringing its patents. They had both companies in China a similar problem and the apple company lost the dispute again. However, Apple only had to update the software to bypass the ban. Conditions in Germany are a bit more complicated – the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8 and 8 Plus are equipped with an Intel modem that infringes Qualcomm's patents, and Apple has to adjust accordingly.

The presentation of modified models should thus enable them to be sold further in Germany. However, the lawsuits between Qualcomm and Apple will continue.
