At this year's CES trade fair in Las Vegas, in the US, in-ear headphones ("beaks") were actually presented, which work entirely on a wireless basis. The German company Bragi took care of it. Now the question hangs in the air, whether Apple will also enter these waters and present its completely wireless in-ear headphones to the world. It has a relatively good foothold, especially thanks to its acquisition of Beats in 2014 and recent speculation about production of the new iPhone generation without any jack.

Citing his usually very reliable sources inside Apple, Mark Gurman z 9to5Mac he claims, that the iPhone maker will indeed introduce these wireless "beads", which would not even need a cable connecting the right and left earpieces, in the fall together with the new iPhone 7. According to Gurman, the earpieces will have a look similar to the one boasted by Motorola's Hint earpieces and Dash from the aforementioned Bragi company (pictured).

The headphones are expected to carry the unique name "AirPods", which has been trademarked by the company. Among other things, users will most likely expect a microphone with a built-in noise canceller, the function of receiving calls and a completely new ground-breaking communication with Siri without a traditional controller.

Apparently, the company will also catch the problem where the headphones would not fit comfortably in the users' ears by creating special cases that should ensure a comfortable audio experience for each user. He also believes that Apple will follow in the footsteps of Bragi's headphones, which have a built-in button for receiving calls, and install the same in its "bakes".

Charging should work through the supplied box, where the headphones will be stored and will be gradually recharged when not in use. Sources suggest that each part of the headphones will have a small battery inside that can last up to four hours without needing to be recharged. The box should also serve as a certain protective cover.

According to all reports, the “AirPods” will be sold separately and will therefore not be included in the package with the new iPhone. It will be a certain premium alternative to EarPods. The price is of course not known, but given that Bragi headphones cost around $300 (approx. CZK 7), a similar price tag can be expected.

According to current plans, the presentation should take place in the fall, however, there are doubts whether Apple will make it. Its engineers are still testing, for example, the batteries inside the headphones, and it is possible that the release of AirPods will have to be postponed.

The fact that Apple is working on wireless headphones is, however, an indirect confirmation that the next generation iPhone will probably lose the 3,5mm jack and the headphones will have to be connected either via Lightning or wirelessly via Bluetooth.
