When Apple announced a few days ago that it would be replacing worn-out batteries in iPhones at a discounted price later this year, many users with disabled (and thus slowed down) phones took it as a somewhat generous move (to a degree). However, it was not clear how this service operation would take place. Who will achieve it, who will not be entitled to it. What about those who replaced the battery a few weeks ago, etc. There were many questions and we now know the answers to some of them. As it seems, the whole process will be much more friendly than perhaps originally expected.

Yesterday, information appeared on the web that was leaked to the web from Apple's French retail department. According to her, everyone who asks for it in an official Apple store will be entitled to the exchange at a discounted price. The only condition will be the ownership of an iPhone, which this promotion applies to, which is all iPhones from the 6th onwards.

Technicians won't check if your battery is new, if it's still good, or if it's completely "beaten". If you come in with an exchange request, it will be granted for a fee of $29 (or the equivalent amount in other currencies). The slowdown of iPhones was supposed to occur when the battery capacity dropped to 80% of the production value. Apple will also replace the battery for you at a discounted price, which will not (yet) slow down your iPhone.

Information also began to appear on the website that Apple is returning part of the money paid for the original service operation, which cost $79 before this event. So if you've had your battery replaced at an authorized service center in the past few weeks, try contacting Apple and let us know how you got on. It may be of interest to some other readers. If you want to see if replacing the battery makes sense for you, Apple can even diagnose it over the phone. Just call the official support line (or otherwise contact Apple with this request) and they will guide you further.
