Last week a 23-year-old Chinese woman lost her life due to an electrocution where her iPhone was to blame. The investigation revealed that the death was caused by a charger that was not original from Apple, but a knockoff. In response to the incident, and presumably to appease the Chinese government, Apple issued a warning about non-genuine chargers, as well as instructions on how to identify a genuine charger.

“This overview will help you identify the right USB mains charger. When you need to charge your iPad, we recommend that you use the power adapter and USB cable included in the package. These adapters and cables can also be purchased separately from Apple and through authorized resellers.”
