Dan Pražák Apple has just released tvOS 13. The update is intended for all owners of Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K and brings several important new features. Usability of Apple TV moves to a higher level together with tvOS 13, and users get new gaming options, an improved start screen, support for multiple accounts or a completely new control center.
Probably the biggest new feature of tvOS 13 is support for drivers that are not MFI certified. You can now connect either the Sony DualShock from the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox Wireless from the Xbox One console to the Apple TV. Controller support will come in handy especially when playing games within Apple Arcade, a new gaming platform with more than a hundred games that is not only part of tvOS 13, but also iOS 13, iPadOS 13 and macOS Catalina.
The home screen has also undergone an interesting change. Application icons are more oval, and above all, previews from new movies, music hits or top-rated games run across the entire screen and you can click to open them. Along with this, the Control Center known from macOS or iOS has also arrived in tvOS, which will offer you quick access to frequently used settings such as AirPlay, search, music and user accounts. You activate the Control Center by holding down the TV button on the Apple TV remote.
However, support for multiple user accounts is also a fundamental innovation. Every member of the household can now have an account on Apple TV, which will have a personalized list of movies and series, playlists in Apple Music and also the applications themselves within the system. You can then switch between accounts via the new Control Center.
And finally, the screensavers also received interesting updates. The new ones include interesting videos shot on days of the seas and oceans from all over the world.

As for the tvOS update, it takes place classically via Settings -> System -> updates software –> Update software. If you have automatic updates set, you don't have to worry about anything.
