Apple has released another 10.9.5th update for OS X Mavericks, which could be the last before the release of OS X Yosemite. OS X 7.0.6 brings reliability improvements to some parts of the system and also includes Safari XNUMX.

The update is recommended for all Mavericks users, and in addition to improving Mac stability, compatibility and security, it also:

  • Improves the reliability of VPN connections that use smart USB cards for identity verification.
  • Improves reliability of access to files stored on SMB servers.
  • Includes Safari 7.0.6.

OS X Yosemite, the successor to Mavericks, is expected to be released during October, so it is very likely that this will be the last update to OS X 10.9 before the arrival of Yosemite. Previous update 10.9.4 it came out two months ago.

Safari 7.1

After installing OS X 10.7.5, another update appears in the Mac App Store, this time Safari 7.1, which contains interesting news. It brings privacy, compatibility and security improvements, but also integrates the DuckDuckGo search engine, following the example of iOS 8, which does not track users and can be used to replace, for example, Google search. Safari 7.1 further encrypts all Yahoo searches entered into the search box, improving browser and autocomplete compatibility with web pages.
