Apple has released the expected update for its OS X Mavericks operating system. In addition to stability, compatibility, and security improvements for your Mac, version 10.9.2 also brings FaceTime Audio and fixes bugs in Mail…
The 10.9.2 update is recommended for all OS X Mavericks users and brings the following news and changes:
- Adds the ability to start and receive Facetime audio calls
- Adds call waiting support for FaceTime audio and video calls
- Adds the ability to block incoming iMessages from individual senders
- Improves the accuracy of the number of unread messages in Mail
- Addresses an issue that prevented Mail from receiving new messages from some providers
- Improves AutoFill compatibility in Safari
- Fixes an issue that could cause audio distortion on some Macs
- Improves the reliability of connecting to file servers over SMB2
- Fixes an issue that could cause VPN connections to terminate unexpectedly
- Improves VoiceOver navigation in Mail and Finder
Although Apple didn't mention it in the details of the update, version 10.9.2 also addresses a serious one SSL security issue, which Apple already last week fixed in iOS, but a security update for Macs was still pending.
[do action=”update” date=”25. 2. 21:00″/]Older versions of OS X Lion and Mountain Lion were not affected by the problem with verifying connections via SSL, but today Apple still released security patches for these versions of OS X. Their download is recommended for all users, you can find them either in the Mac App Store or directly on the Apple website - Security Update 2014-001 (Mountain Lion) a Security Update 2014-001 (Lion).
where did they leave the graphics drivers?
So I'm also interested in that, they wrote about them in all the previous betas.
The graphics drivers are of course updated, Apple never mentions such things in the update description, unless it is a fix for some obvious bug, for example.
I would also like to know when it will be possible to work normally with PDF forms and at the same time the compatibility of the font size in MAIL.app when sending to a PC, since I always have to write only in plain mode and even so, the signature that is large compared to the other font makes me crazy.
What do you mean by the problem with PDF forms? For better compatibility with Win, download the Universal Mailer plugin for Mail.app, it works flawlessly.
I don't know what exactly MilanZ meant, but I, for example, filled out the tax return form in pdf (from the tax administration website), which contains forms, and for God's sake I couldn't print it so that it contained the values entered in the fields. I made dog pieces (exports to a pdf file and then only printing (not primo), attempts through pixelmator (it only reads the first page) and in the end I had to add the values here and there with a pen. I cursed a lot...
Unfortunately, Preview obviously has age-old problems with forms optimized for Windows, or adobe reader. Unfortunately, the best solution is to use Adobe Reader for filling out the forms, which is fortunately also available for OS X. That way you can avoid all such worries.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try it. At around one in the morning from Saturday to Sunday, when I was dealing with it, I didn't want to examine the installation of other software anymore :-)
You will still face similar incompatibilities on MAC, I struggled with MBA for 1,5 years and yesterday I received an order for a DELL E7440...
The MBA will end up being a toy for everyone in the family and DELL will give me back my lost productivity.
I understand exactly your 1 a.m., I'd rather not count the hours.
I don't know how for whom, but for me, MAC OS is not suitable for office work in an environment where 95% of people around use PC + Windows - maybe I'm just incapable, but I've tried for a long time, I've made a lot of progress, but...
Still a kernel bug? I'm thinking of upgrading to a pre-unibody MBP
I have a strange problem: the update was displayed, the patch was downloaded, restart, own update - after the restart there was a voice in the notification list something like "update failed". About Mac still shows 10.9.1 as the current version and the update manager pretends that I have updated and shows 10.9.2 in the installed updates. Does anyone know what to do with it? Safari is still vulnerable.
Try manually downloading and installing the combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1726
it should help you.
Thanks, I finally went back through the time machine to just before the upgrade and it went through the second time.
Before the update, Mail.app took up 11GB on my disk, after it it took up 22GB. At the same time, the content of gmail is a weak 7 and a half. Why can't they do it properly?
Try Schranka > Rebuild
Hello,
I have a Mac Air Book with a mavericks processor and an AirPort Time capsule 2TB, I had a lot of connection problems at first, I complained about the AirPort, got a new one, then everything worked. After the OS update, the connection does not work again - the improvements mentioned above are therefore of no use to me :).
