A while ago, Apple released an update to its OS X Mountain Lion desktop operating system. The new version marked as 10.8.5 does not contain any new essential functions, it is mainly about fixes. According to the changelog, the following has been fixed in the update:
- Fixes an issue that could prevent Mail from sending messages.
- Enhances AFP file transfer over 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
- Addresses an issue that could prevent screensavers from starting automatically.
- Improves the reliability of the Xsan file system.
- Improves reliability when transferring large files over Ethernet.
- Improves performance when authenticating to an Open Directory server.
- Fixes an issue that prevented smart cards from unlocking preference panes in System Preferences.
- Contains improvements including Software Update 1.0 for MacBook Air (Mid 2013).
As always, the update is available for download in the Mac App Store.
Has anyone updated yet? did everything work? any changes?
Yes. Yes. No.
Thanks, I've had a mac for about 14 days, I don't have experience with updates yet, I'm worried that something might go wrong, especially the endurance, which is amazing, I think the air is this year's model.
Do I have to do anything after the update or will it do it all by itself?
Sometimes a restart is needed, the computer will show you this on its own. Sometimes not ;-)
yes | yes | email sending error fixed
Now I updated it and the mail is fixed. if you restart it after the update and you don't have to worry about anything.
